Tour de Santa B - Saturday, February 3rd

I've re-entered the information for this century ride to Santa Barbara on Saturday, February 3rd. Info is below:

This route has been mapped very graciously by Mkadam68! Thank you!

His original post: https://www.bikeforums.net/showpost.p...&postcount=183

Date: Satruday, February 3, 2007
Start: 7724 Van Nuys Blvd., Van Nuys, CA 91405
Meet: 7:00am
Roll: 7:30am SHARP
Miles: 103.43
Elevation: 6,335 ft.

Detailed Route slip: SB Route (2).doc

Link to Amtrak's website for additional information: https://www.amtrak.com/servlet/Conten...mtrak/HomePage

About the ride: Rain cancels. The ride isn't too difficult so we may be up in time to take the early train back, but if not, there is a 7:00pm train out. We would then try to meet up with Danno and have dinner before boarding. Also, we will make stops along the way to refuel, etc. and I will stop for a quick bite (real food) at some point. I'll try and determine actual stops along the route, but anyone wanting to join, please note that there will NOT be a SAG vehicle on this ride. It is self-support only, so please bring fuel, extra tubes, cash, etc. There will be plenty of places to stop along the way should anyone need to at any time. I will provide my cell phone to all of you at the beginning of the ride.

About the train: The Surfliner normally accommodates bikes. However, there is a risk that the bikes will have to be stored in the luggage car and/or we may have to pay additional fees ($15), but this is rare. I do want those of you coming to be aware, however, and not be shocked should that happen. There are two trains to choose from: 4:29pm departure and a 7:00pm departure. Also, there are stations along the route should anyone want to come back earlier (please go to the Amtrak website for details). I'm sure most of you ride with ID, but please be sure to on Saturday as you will need it to board Amtrak.

Taking the Tour:
The Fixer
Magicant
Scootcore
Awiner
CynCarvin32
Thomson
merider1
AKA2000

Danno (may meet us in Santa Barbara for refreshments! He's our welcoming wagon. )

I just did this route last Thursday (as far as Ojai, anyway), and highly recommend it. Very pretty, quite diverse... and challenging but not back-breaking.

Weird. Maybe the board has you set to "ignore."

Guys, I still plan to ride this and I hope those of you who signed up will join me. The list of five that I had all have my cell number. I'll be logging on here for the route, etc. and for notices of rides, I'm just staying out of the rest of it. Thanks.

What's Santa B? Santa Barbara? If so, I can give you folks quite a tour! All the bars, pubs, clubs & hotspots around town.

Well, that's quite a nice offer - if you also have 12 couches for us all to crash on that night!!

Maybe this should've been called the Tour TO Santa B?

Not to speak for m.e. but I'm sure you're welcome to join us for our post-ride meal (and she's probably up for some recommendations of places to stop).

Extra incentive -- Danno can give a nutrition seminar at the end of the ride. He always has the best posts over on the training/nutrition board.

+1!! Jim is fabulous to ride with. Oh, Lord, I'd better get my legs out of the closet and fastened tight. I'm going to need them with this group of riders. And NO, that isn't sandbagging. I'm just as fast when I have my legs on.
