Was it a full moon or what?
Seems that everything, clouds and all came out pretty well.

It is pretty close to a full moon. You can tell it is a night shot because of how lights seem to glare off in the distance. The parking lights don't seem to glare very much because they only blinked on for a second. The exposure is set at 30 seconds. You can tell the exposure is long because of how the waves crashing on shore appear white. Another clue to it being a night shot is the ambient light coming from the north.... but yet there is a bright light reflecting off the windshield appearing to be the sun.
I took this back when I was working for a photography studio and had limited access to film... I have a bag of something like 30-40 rolls of film I have never processed. I basically taught myself how to use F-stops and shutter speeds.... just wish I had a digital and it wouldn't have cost to much to see the results.

The area is definitely Corona Del Mar. I knew something was wrong cause there were no cars parked along the curb (there is a posted curfew) but was confused with the light shining off the ocean in the horizon - looked like sunset. Always interesting how night photos turn out.

[QUOTE=BCIpam]OK 5 points for each right answer... what are these - found commonly all around OC.
Isn't that one of those plants that they say smells like a bad case of body odor? I remember seeing something like that while hiking in Bommer Canyon, however they were a flatter color of Yellow.

I love night shots... you can get creative with them. I showed that picture of my car to the other photogs I worked with and only one or two were close.

I got an email from a former coworker's daughter thanking me for taking pictures of her quinciniera two years ago - she was reminded of it as she had a recent birthday.
She was a sweet girl - although sitting in a stretch limo with 20+ loud, rambunctious teenagers was quite interesting . . .

HRC-Rascal... the plant you are thinking about (that smells bad) is called Coyote Melon and it grows on the ground attached to a vine (like most melons)
What I posted grows on the branches of oaks - mainly Coastal and Live and is called an Oak Gall. Or Oak Apple. It is cause by the sting of a Oak Wasp. The tree reacts to the sting by growing this large, pulpy "fruit" around the sting site. The wasp then lays her egg inside the gall and the larva has something to eat before it hatches out as a wasp. Cool huh?
Next time any of you are mountain biking check the oak trees for galls.
And the guy riding above - geez is he 7 feet tall**********?

Wife ran the Chesebro 1/2 marathon today - an event part of The Great Race of Agoura. We went to pick up her registration materials/bib/goodie bag yesterday, and upon leaving, she suckered me into signing up last minute for the 5k. Even though 5k is no big deal, I was excited the night before as this was my first running event. However, my excitement soon turned to exhaustion as our 15-month old daughter had a high fever from her double ear infection, and threw up in the middle of the night as well and had a hard time sleeping. we must have gotten 1.5 hours of sleep max. Nonetheless, she was feeling better by morning when my mom came to watch her, so off we were at 5 am.
I was not a fan of running, and had never run for fitness/pleasure - but it was exciting being in a "racing" atmosphere. The 1/2 marathon started 30 minutes prior to my event, so after I finished, I ran back to the car and got my mountain bike and trekked uphill and waited for the wife at mile marker 11 in an attempt to snap some pics - but they didn't turn out so hot as there wasn't a good spot for me to take pics so I had to mickey-mouse them.
I'm tired but feeling some sort of satisfaction.
The wife goofing off when she saw me -
Bearing down for the last 2 miles -
And at the finish -
For those who want to know:
Her time 2:12 - 10 minutes off her PR for the 1/2 marathon in 2004 - but she had to condense her training this time around and work around a busy child/work/school/husband schedule.
My time for the 5 - 30:32 for a 9:51/mile pace. This is probably the longest I've run since P.E. in jr. high. I wouldn't say I'm hooked, but I'd like to do another 5k and get that time down to a sub 30.

A sign for me?
My city is re-doing the sidewalks in my neighborhood. On every corner is a sign that says OPEN TRENCH or SIDEWALK CLOSED: USE OTHER SIDE. Well, except for this one:
Not sure what this means. You can't see it from the street because of the parked cars, so it's not meant for traffic...
It seems like some sort of warning to pedestrians that we're going to be leaping out of holes in the ground at any moment. I kinda want to steal the sign and plant it right in front of my driveway.
