Restaurant recommendation thread!

I think this would be a good idea.
I ate at this really nice place down on Beach Blvrd. Its called Indian House or somthing like that. Down before McDonalds (when coming up to Knotts). They have really good food, and all you can eat everyday from 11:00 to 3:00 and dinner 5:00 to 10:00. They are located right next to a motel.

And please don't post things like "Taco Bell" or "Burger King"

No Taco Bell or Burger King? How about McDonald's?

For a very special occasion, cost no object, go to Napa Valley and eat at French Laundry. (link) My sisters and I took my parents there for their anniversary on Easter Sunday this year. Lunch writeup here.

Jason, if you are in the the city, I highly recommend Hyde St Seafood. Not in the touristy areas, it's a little local place at the top of the hill at Hyde and Jackson.

Dude... if it's that good, I can look up the address once I know the name. Tell us what city (or what region even), not what cross streets! For all I know, you could be talking about some place in Long Beach or some place in New Haven, CT. Yes, many of the recommendations so far have been hundreds of miles away from where you live. Good food most definitely is not limited to the Anaheim area.

Speaking of which, if in Boston and someone else is paying for wine, go to The Federalist at XV Beacon (name of hotel; I won't insult you by telling you its address). Or perhaps Radius since I hear the quality of the food (but not the wine cellar) has dropped a bit at The Federalist.

I took my sisters to George's in La Jolla. Excellent food. Excellent view of the ocean. My favorite place to eat (based on frequency of visiting) is Rock Bottom, a nationwide chain that happens to have a site in La Jolla, more or less halfway between my apartment and my lab. [e] Yes, that's where A, B, J, and K work.

I normally don't go to expensive places because I'm cheap. That, plus if the food turns out to be bad then I'd feel like a looser.

San Diego-wise:
Current favorite - Yakitori on 6th Ave
- Japanese mini skewers; tastes really good (bbq chicken wings; wasabi/sake octopus bits)
- all the dishes are $3-$5 although the portions are really small (meant to be eatten with beer)
- just eat a $5 bowl of teriyaki beef/chicken or a $5 bowl of salmon/soup/rice if you feel the need to fill up
Chinese dim-sum - China Max on Convoy
- all the others that I've tried are either inconsistent or kind of sucks
Thai - Celadon on University
View-wise - Jakes in Del Mar
- food is ok-ish, but it is right beside the beach!

Of the many good Italian restaurants, we think Angelini Osteria on Beverly is the best value. Very reasonable, yet among the best food we've had in LA.

For our last "occasion", we went to Melisse and it far exceeded our expectations.

For sushi, head to the valley... Nozawa is probably our favorite.

And good luck getting a reservation. They only take them one month in advance and they are usually booked for the day 20 minutes after they start taking reservations. My parents got a table by staying at the hotel across the street and checking for cancelled reservations every hour. My gf and I weren't so lucky.

First place I took Gina was the Northwoods Inn. Big log cabin looking place in Azusa with snow hanging off the roof. We eat there on our anniversaries.

I love the shredded marinated purple cabbage mixed with shredded green salad and bleu cheese dressing. Cheese toast, Potato with cheese butter and the lobster! Yummmm! I think they were or are the same owners as Clearman's steak house.

You mean 13 year olds cannot have a preference? Or you mean it's not the same as yours?
