Burbank Bike Path Extension Fails

In case you are interested, the nimby's won and The City of Burbank will not extend the Chandler Bike to meet the LA River Path on Riverside Dr. At least until they find a new route.
I understand these people not wanting more traffic, but these are quiet streets and there is not that much bike traffic.
What really pissed me off is their claim that this will bring a bad element in....I am not a bad element
And I dont consider anyone here a bad element. In fact the Chandler path already connects to the Orange Line path and there has been no increase in crime or traffic...
Yeah I can see it now....1 adam-12 (oh theres that age thing again) 2 bank robbers riding bikes going down Chandler, they each have large money bags, try to apprehend before they get to the velodrome..

The city council picked the wrong street...that is the bigger issue...typical of them anyway...

Dang, Herb, that is unfortunate. I hope a path can be found that works for everybody.

"My biggest concern about it is that we're connecting a Burbank bike path with an L.A. bike path," Raymond Ferrante said. "There are 100,000 people in Burbank, but there's 3.5 million people in Los Angeles. So that says that there will be about 35 L.A. bikers to every one Burbank biker coming through my neighborhood. My concern is why are we inviting all these people from another town to come through my neighborhood."

That's a good point.

I live right off Topanga Canyon Blvd. I used love all the cyclists coming through here. I didn't realize they're criminals and bad seeds. Oh jeez, there goes one of those lycra clad gangsters right now! I bet he's casing the neigborhood. Where's my shotgun!

I gave up trying to understand people a long time ago, I just don't get how people can think like this...

Thanks for the article link...
What they are are also forgetting is the path is already connected to North Hollywood, and there has been no appreciable change from that....

Some day that will be me riding up TC...I will be one with a target on my jersey!!

I still haven't figured out how to fit a Mac-10 and extra ammo in my saddle bag....I had it in my jersey pockets, but it was a bit uncomfortable especailly when sprinting and that made it rust from sweating...hmmm, maybe my camelbak...I could use less water and that would give me more room...I tried ammo in my water bottles, but it messed up the taste of my energy drink...and made it too slippery to load as well......
