Brake hoods

I have old yucky pale craking brake hoods on my Puch. Can I buy new aero style brake hoods or do I have to stick with non-aero brake hoods? My dad has the aero kind and I like them considerably more than my non-aero ones.

If you have the kind with the cables coming out the top, you might be able to replace them with some newer ones. Maybe you can find them at Performance or Nashbar. Probably have to get new cables and re-wrap the bars. There are people in the road forum and classic/vintage who can tell you what works with what.
