My New Rig... I'm so excited!
Drove up today to Main Street Cycles, Santa Maria. to pick up the new Santa Cruz Superlight. The bike is a beauty. It's hard to tell in the photos but the bike is a dark indigo blue. I have only to add a Hope seat post clamp and skewers and I'm good to go.
I had originally ordered the new, revamped Superlight however, this came instead. The shop agreed to drop the price $500. I was pleasantly surprised to see although the frame is the tried and true Superlight frame, all the components are 07, a real bonus!!!
If any of you find yourselves up in the Santa Maria area, stop into Main Street Cycles and say "HI" to Chris and Scott. This is a great shop. They are an authorized Trek dealer but also sell Santa Cruz and are dealers for Landshark and Kish custom bikes. You will find good friendly, customized service. And Scott, a professional racer, is about as knowledgeable of bikes and building them, as one comes.

I love Liquid Blue. I tried to buy a LB singlespeed Chameleon this summer... but couldn't find one. And the guy at Bicycle John's (Burbank) totally dissed me.

This bike came in totally as a surprise. I love the liquid blue color!!! Will be riding Limestone Canyon tomorrow just to check it out (and yes... get it dirty - it's just so clean!)
Out the door I paid $1450 for the bike (that includes the King Headset). You can see why I drove all the way up to Santa Maria!!!!

Ok..gotcha...typical...and not of just Johns...but I think most lbs' are great when you are in the store, but they never call ...
I had John's build me a set of wheels..was told friday they would be ready..never got a call, had to call 3 or 4 times to check status...
Last week my buddy bought a set also....they couldn;t do something he wanted..anodizing I think...no one called...he called Fri to see if they were done..well they hadnt even been built yet...so another week went by...
I took my bike into my lbs where i bought my bike, the rear wheel need truing (this is why I bought a custom set), I was out of town a week and went to pick it up.They told me my rear wheel was cracked...they had my cell #... and they were now going to see if Trek would replace it...another week...at least they gave me a loaner wheel
Sorry for the rant...but that is one part of customer service that is very important to me...and it seems lots of bike shops fall down on this...

Yes, it is a beauty! Looks like you could pull tree stumps out of the ground with that gearing.
On of these days I'll get a mountain bike again, but that won't happen until I retire and move to someplace that is near some dirt.
