Cuda's coming to town - FOOD & DRINKS DEC 22nd - Now with poll
Cuda and wife Happyfeet are coming to down over Christmas this year. I'd love to get together with the SoCal crew while we're out there. We will be arriving Thrusday the 21st, leaving Wed the 27th. In the previous thread I had suggested a Friday evening meet & greet get together for food & drinks. And a possible Saturday morning ride.
I'll be staying in Woodland Hills with my wife's parents. Happyfeet will have access to her mother's car, but I won't have my own set of wheels. So the Friday get together can be anywhere within reasonable driving distance of the area. Saturday's ride I'll need someone to pick me up and drop off.
FOOD FOOD BEER!
UPDATE:
Mexican food at Cafe El Cholo in La Habra, 7:30pm, Friday Dec 22nd.
840 East Whittier Blvd.
La Habra, CA 90631
Ok, so I screwed up when making the poll and didn't make it public to see who votes yes. So please post in thread if you hope to make it and I'll start a list here:

If you don't have a car, you could ride to the SFVBC ridestart and ride with us. It's at CSUN. Are you bringing a bike?

I'm either going to have to rent or borrow a bike (56-58cm) for that morning.
Wheel World Cyclery - 22718 Ventura Blvd, Woodland Hills appears to be the closest bike shop to where I'll be staying. About 2mi down the road.
I'd probably rather make it a small group with just BF's people. I'm not much of a climber by ya'lls standards so a route with minimal long extended climbs would be good.

Still looking for suggestions on where to meet for food and drinks.
And what evening would be better for everyone? Friday 22nd or Saturday 23rd? Happyfeet and I are trying to finalize schedules and such with her folks so we make sure we have the car!

I'm open to either day...if you come south a bit, that's probably better for several of us.

I certainly hope to get a chance to ride. Right now though, hoping to get food plans hammered out. *anyone?*

405 = freeway

Thing is I should know better. A lot of my family lives in the L.A. area and been on that freeway enough. But thanks for the initiation.

Ok, after getting HappyFeet's input, we're pretty much good to drive just about anywhere in the Los Angeles area. She's suggested El Cholo which is closer to downtown, or somewhere out towards where the majority of people are going to be coming from. I know jschen would appriciate not having to drive to the north side of LA.
I'm going to play with my mod buttons and see if I can get a poll started for those who may be able to make it.

I'll be on vacation by then, so I can drive most anywhere for a SoCal BF gathering. I'll be based in eastern LA county. In any case, I'm in.
BTW, you do realize even non-mods can add polls to threads that they start?

Hi everyone! I thought I'd chime in about food options.
Cuda and I are willing to drive a fair bit, since it seems that SoCal BFers are pretty spread out. I've come up with a few options, but please feel free to suggest other places! We're trying to stay away from national chain restaurants if possible.
Koreatown:
El Cholo https://www.elcholo.com/ My favorite Mexican restaurant when I was at USC, and I still try to visit during the summer for their green corn tamales. Also has a Santa Monica location. Good margaritas.
Monterey Park:
If anyone lives out that way and has good Chinese restaurant recommendations, we're all ears. I've been to Ocean Star for dim sum, but since we're thinking of having a dinner get-together, dim sum won't be possible.
Marina Del Rey:
Aunt Kizzy's Back Porch https://auntkizzys.com/dinner.htm
Southern Food, no alcohol though.
Long Beach:
Johnny Reb's https://www.johnnyrebs.com/JR_Main.html
Southern Food, 2004 Zagat Guide choice for Best BBQ in LA. Beer and wine.
Pasadena:
I remember there being a lot of Italian restaurants here. Any suggestions? I think I was at Carmine's once and remembered the food as being good.
Irvine:
Taiko - Sushi, Japanese food. Beer and wine.
Too bad In-N-Out doesn't have tables to eat in.
Looking forward to meeting everyone!
