I Did My First Century Today...

Motionbased says it was 103.09 miles, Training Center puts it at 102.94, I'm not sure why the difference between the two...

I took the SGRT from Seal Beach to Hwy 39, went up to the East Fork followed it for awhile (I intended on looping over GMR but the winds were getting irritating). Came back down HWY 39, SGRT to Arrow Hwy, cut over to the Rio Hondo (I wanted to make sure I didn't somehow end up with 99.5 miles ), crossed back at the narrows, then finished down the SGRT.

No bonking, kept myself hydrated, although the last few miles I was ready to finish. I did have some problems with my toes towards the end. Could this be a shoe issue? If so, I've got only a few days to break in a new pair for the Stagecoach, is that enough time or should I just endure and start on a new pair afterwards?

How are you folks able to drive back from something like the Stagecoach? I only had a 40 minute or so drive and I felt like I was gonna fall asleep at the wheel? At this point I'm glad that I'm hanging out in El Centro for another day, I don't think I'd make it back in one piece.

Let's see if this link works...

About 6 months, but I've lost 50 or so pounds during that period.

It was a little sore around mile 65, I just did more standing after that.

Awesome, John!!!! As far as falling asleep at the wheel - be sure to EAT immediately after even if it is just a protein bar. It will raise your blood sugar. After my double last year, I seriously almost fell asleep on the freeway at 11:00pm! I had to keep slapping my own face (honestly, and no, not in a pleasurable kind of way), roll down all of my windows for fresh air and blast the radio to make it home safe! But I didn't eat after...

I don't know if the winds started up once I got up to the East Fork, but I suspect I had a tail wind and didn't realize it. It would explain why some of the riders going in the other direction were drafting a minivan.
