Agua Chinon MTB Ride Pics

Great ride today! Before the ride even started, the docents had decided to extend the route. I believe we ended up with 15ish miles and ~2300 ft. Some very pretty areas, most notable were The Sinks and Dripping Springs.

A few sections of very fun singletrack, one short section of mandatory off-the-bike singletrack (apparently, the last several rides have had injuries here) On the left is old & rusted barbed wire and on your right was a drop to Santiago Cyn Rd.

A few challenging climbs, a couple of falls and hanging out with Drew12 and Oleanshoebox.

Of course, the obligatory post-ride meal. Thanks Drew! I stuffed my face then made my way home.

Pics to follow...

Wow, the first picture looks so peaceful. I am not a mountain biker but would love to take a mountain bike on that with no one around. Looks like great time! As always, enjoying the pics.

It was quite peaceful there. The people in our group were the only ones there! Very nice not to have to worry about opposite 'traffic'.

Cali, I agree mtb'ing is great fun! Such a different workout and experience from road riding, but I love both.

Tiff, you so inspire me to lean to mountain bike! You are tough, lady! I love those pics that you took. Really is amazing what is in our collective backyard, isn't it? Glad you had a nice ride with the guys.

You wouldn't call me tough if you heard my whining about my scraped up and bloody legs when I got home.

Yes, it is amazing... I tend to forget about the available open space that's still around but somewhat hidden. There really are some beautiful areas in this crazy place we call SoCal.

Lady, I was whining about the rain yesterday, so please... You ARE tough and sexy. Don't worry...my type still has ample hair on the legs and under the arms. Assuming you don't?

My friend Rick Louis was also on the ride today (you would know him - he has the "blingliess Blur" out there)- here are his GPS readings:

Summary Data
Total Time (h:m:s) 3:18:46 13:05 pace
Moving Time (h:m:s) 2:08:59 8:30 pace
Distance (mi ) 15.17
Moving Speed (mph) 7.1 avg. 31.8 max.
Elevation Gain (ft) +3,005 / -2,988

* * *

Everyone got great photos! You did a nice tour of the park although I'm trying to figure out your route. Did you ride up to Bolero then to Lomas Ridge and down to Dripping Springs? Or did you ride up to Cactus (behind hte Sinks) down Limestone Ridge and back up Limestone Canyon and take the Dripping Springs spur? Or AC to Sinks, to Cactus, Limestone Ridge, back to Sripping Springs climb to Lomas Ridge and down through Bolero...

Anyway - Tiffanie if you could do all that you are an animal. Some decent climbs in either direction. Now get yourself a decent bike and no one will be able to keep up with you.

Any feedback on the docents and the route? Would you recommend other TNC rides now that you knowthe format? All input is appreciated.

Not to make any of you jealous... but I also rode Limestone today (from Hick's Haul). My buddy and I had it to ourselves (we climbed HH to Lomas Ridge to Bolero and back down the Canyon to HH).

Aaaaaahhhh the privileges of being a docent!!!!

We were actually comenting on the "Bling" on the Blur. Matching blue....
I'm not sure of the names, but up aqua, to the sinks, along some singletrack thats
over to the ridge above Santiago canyon, down to dripping cave,
at this point we split, with some going back, and the rest of us ( 10 I think)
continued up Lomas ( ? I think) then down some good singletrack, and back.
Near the end, my legs had had it. Any up hill and they were yellin' at me.
Tiffanie and Bill did great!

Now, where can I get matching color for my bike.. Oh ya, it's all black....

I have a photo of Rick's Blur somewhere ... he even has blue spoke nipples and a blue chain well blue anything you can add to a bike. The frame is white. He just added the blue chain gaurd tape. I told him now he's crossed the line from bling to just too much!

Well it does get one noticed!!! That's how I met Rick - at Aliso Woods at the Cholla Kiosk. I couldn't just let the bike ride by without saying something!!!

Drew covered the route for you (thank goodness because I had no idea which way was which ). The route we did take was great! I think there were five docents on the ride... very friendly, knowledgeable and aware.

Thanks Pam, I really do love it but I definitely have much room for improvement. I'm working on getting myself a decent bike!
