What are respectable times for Mt Baldy

I am interested in knowing what are respectable times for the different roads leading to Baldy Village. I climbed Glendora Mountain Road from East Fork yesterday in 30:50 avg 239 watts (3.41 watts/kg). The time began at the hard right turn and stopped at the gate. I am curious what are target times to shoot for as I begin to spend more time training on Baldy.

1. Baldy Rd

2. Glendora Ridge Road

3. Glendora Mountain Road from East Fork

4. Glendora Moutain Road from Sierra Madre Ave

And any other road I might have missed.

I don't know how respectable they are, but here are my times.

1. Mt Baldy Rd (from the corner of Mills and Mt Baldy Rd, to the gate at the ski lifts. Usually 87 -90 minutes, this year my goal is to break 80 minutes. Time splits are usually 45 minutes to the Village and another 42 minutes to the lifts.

2. GMR to the Ski Lifts- 2:15

3. GMR & GRR to the Village 1:30

4. GMR Gate to Gate ~40 minutes

We should meet up out there sometime, maybe we could push each other to get some better times

Well one baseline would be the old baldy hillclimb timetrial.. It starts on the Upland side at the top of Euclid ave.. Once you get to the top of Euclid ave at 24th street, you will see a fire station. This is where the TT use to start, the left side of the fire station.. It would finish at the parking lot for the ski lifts.. Total mileage 12.6 miles.. 1.5 hours is a respectable time. Only 2 people ever broke 1 hour..

Baldy Rd from intersection with Mills Rd to the end of the road at the ski lift:

Jason's pathetic personal best split times:
65 min to Glendora Ridge Rd (SLOW!)
18 min to Icehouse Canyon (83 min total)
33 min to ski lift (116 min total)

Calculated wattage from Glendora Ridge Rd to the ski lift: 180 watts (2.83 W/kg) conservatively assuming 10% of power going to parasitic forces (wind resistance, rolling resistance, drivetrain inefficiency, etc) and 90% going to fighting gravity. I really need to try again once I get myself back in form. I think I should be able to pull off a 105 minute climb.

More respectable times
90 minutes: my long-term goal[*]
80 minutes: OC Roadie's long-term goal
80 minutes: terrymorse's approximate time on his attempt
79 minutes: adxm's time on his attempt
70 minutes: what redal and 26mi235 estimate some of the faster people in the Baldy TT (different route) could do on this route

[*]I used to tell myself that once I climbed Baldy in 90 minutes, I would splurge on a climbing bike, cost no object. Only problem is, I already bought myself a dream bike, taking advantage of the occasion of the first anniversary of my first roadie ride. Gotta reward myself for no longer being a couch potato, you know? Now I tell myself no more bikes until I hit that target. Then I can get an even nicer dream bike. Except maybe if I do Everest Challenge and actually complete the ride, I might go ahead and buy another nice toy to commemorate the occasion even if I still haven't reached my Baldy goal.

You have no clue how many hours I've wasted memorizing the Baldy profile posted on that site and correlating it with my mental notes about the climb. I know that climb way too well.

Actually, I am routing, as we speak, The Tour de Baldy. Starting in Encanto Park --39 to East Fork to GMR, down GMR to Glendora up GMR, continue on GRR to Baldy Village, down Baldy Rd, Up Baldy Road to the Village, GRR to GMR back to Encanto Park. Interested?

F no

In 2005 to prep for Everest Challenge, I would do GMR/GRR to the lifts, down Mt Baldy Rd, back up Mt Baldy Rd to the lifts, and back down GRR/GMR to my car. This is something like 12,000' in 70 miles, and is enough suffering for me
