I'm registered for the 112. My training was sabotaged for a month by a upper respiratory infection, but that should make it easier to improve in the 2nd and 3rd KOM. Yea, that's it.

I am registered and will be riding all three KOM events.

Anybody have a motion based activity and /or elevation profile for the Mulholland route?

Karen, I'm starting as early as possible too, I think that you're right...6:30 a.m. The doubles riders leave at 6:00, I believe.

I'll be there (coming down from the San Francisco area). I'm also planning on the 630 start time.

Cool! We have 12 hours to finish...won't need that much time, but I am guessing 9 or 10 total hours?
Is George doing the double? He will probably finish the double before a lot of people finish the century!

Yes, he's doing the double and starting at 6:00 a.m. His time last year was 14:32, which included a 20 minute pity party on the side of the road. So he'll finish after us, plenty of time for me to eat something, shower and come back to see him finish!

While I'm flattered Jon, it's a LOT more climbing, so we'll see how I fare.

Okay, lets talk about check points.
Doesn't anyone know how many miles/climbing are between each check point?
I know you have to get to the check points at certain times or they make you go back to the start!

Thanks!
K

Karen,

If they are the same as last year, the first rest stop will be on Mulholland just after turning off Old Topanga, #2 will be on Little Sycamore about 2/3 of the way up to Yuerba Buena, #3 will be at the bottom of Deer Creek, right before you turn on PCH. The all important #4, is about a mile or less below the top of Decker; that one you need to be there before 1:30 PM. #5 is at Las Virgenes & Mulholland, need to be there by 3:30 PM. And I think there is one last SAG stop on the top of Stunt. Had a mechanical last year and DNF'd the ride after Decker.

They can't make you do anything, they can only refuse to credit you as an official finisher. Don't worry, just keep moving and you'll be fine. It's not a lot harder than what we did Saturday, just add the loop of Las Virgines/Topanga and subtract Cardiac/7 minute hill, substitute Decker for Encinal. Oh, instead of coming back down Stunt, you go down Piuma, a lot harder at that point.

Thank you Kar but no way. This is a tough ride. I had a lot of issues last year and I hope to do this event in 14 hours. My feet were in so much pain, I faded from mile 135 to 150. I then sat on the side of the road on the PCH feeling sorry for myself for at least 20 minutes. Then when I got back on the bike (I didn't know what was coming) I had to face DECKER. I slogged up that hill suffering all the way. After eating a Salami sandwich (not on the menu) I finally started feeling better.

This is a really hard double because there aren't 10 mile climbs just a lot of short really steep stuff.

here is my race report from last year https://www.epictrain.com/2006_Mulhol...e_Century.html
