Wildflower in Creston

I just scored with registration for Wildflower ... someone couldn't go. I know it was difficult to even sign up for this, so just wondering if there are any BF'ers lucky enough to register for Wildflower, and are doing this ride?

VMC and I are doing this ride... probably one of the shorter loops since there's a limit to how long he'll be able to push me

Ya, but from Paso Robles to add a few miles. May know of another registration coming available, but not positive yet.

Don't know who VMC is, but we'll discuss more later as the day approaches.

Didn't BCIpam, or someone have a thread going on this just before registration opened. I'm pretty sure there are a number of people here registered.

Guess it was Tiff's Wildflower thread.

Edit: Oooops. No, . . . it was BCI's original thread.

I'm sure there was. But since I just scored a registration, and since I just recently started posted here regularly, I just wanted to see if there was a group that's going together. Sorry if this is a duplicate.

No problem. As you can see there have already been multiple threads. The more, the marrier, maryer, merrier, . . . better.

I bought Tiffanie's registration. My wife and I will be staying in Atascadero Friday and Saturday nights. (I'm trying like hell to build a base of miles, but very nervous about the 6500' of climbing.)

Don't worry, you'll do fine ... I worry about the Grizzly Peak Century I'm doing the following weekend ... 109 miles, and 8550' of climbing

Bernie, looking at a topographic map of the area, there aren't any hills that even come close to what you climed last Saturday. You won't have any problem.

The course is fairly easy. There are climbs, but nothing major. Shell Creek Road, after the second rest stop, into the lunch stop is flat and fast. The climb after lunch sometimes get hot, it's up a canyon and doesn't get much wind to cool it off.

We have a group of about 12 or so doing this ride. From SO CA, Bay Area, Ventura, SLO. Mostly Cal Poly grads. Some staying in SLO, some in Paso. Three of us found a guest house in Paso.

For those of you who have never been to Creston be prepared as far as varying weather conditions. I have done many uscf races out there and have encountered everything from 100+ temps to sleeting condition. All from the months of April-June..

We used to joke that it was like the Bermuda triangle of weather. One year I did a race where it was sunny at the start and by the finish there was 2-4 inches of hail on the ground.. One of my teammates got hypothermic and fortunately was picked up by Mavic Tech support..

After you are done make sure to stop by the Longbranch Saloon, you can't miss it..

I'll wager there will be very few wildflowers due to practically zero rain in the county this "rain year." (Aug - July) In fact, It'll be a treat to see green hills.
