Where to go for a tune-up?
Does anyone know where I can get a cheap tune-up for a mountain bike in orange county? Suggestions with prices would be very helpful. Thanks.

Uh how cheap? People need to make a living. Most shops prices are the same. There's The Path on First Street in Tustin, and there's a shop in Orange, on Chapman (LCIBrian - what's the name of that shop - I've forgotten). Also RocknRoad in Aliso Viejo on LaPaz or in the shop in Mission Viejo on Marguerite. And there's always Performance - shops in Tustin, Aliso Viejo and Huntington Beach.

I live in cerritos. I know sport chalet charges $40 for a tune-up and I heard of a bike shop near USC that charges $15. I've seen tune-up services listed on-line for around $100. I'm just wondering if anyone has been to a place that did a good job that is relatively inexpensive. I know that there are many shops in my area, so listing shop names without prices is not that useful for me.

Not to be a smart ass, but for numbers and prices,
call 411 and get the listing.

Zinn and the Art of Mountain Bike Maintenance (24.99)
Chain lube (6.99)
Clean Towels (4.99/doz.)
Set of Allen wrenches (14.99)
2 hours of your time
The only other things that you might need are BB grease and a chain cleaner, but unless you are doing a complete overhaul I do not see the point.
BTW: What kind of bike (make/model/year) as some shops are better with some brands than others. I know that I have a hard time getting anyone to correctly pull apart my GT iDrive. Also, are you needing to work on the shocks (shock pump, hydraulic fluid)? Does your bike have caliper or disc brakes?
