The "Not Doing the Eastern Sierra Double" Ride - June 2nd

Okay, I haven't been up to Baldy ONCE this year (dreadful). And since I can't get off work, I'll not be in the Eastern Sierras taking on that double (why, yes, the violins are very comfortable on my shoulder, thank you for asking :p). I'll need a mountain and some company and some food and a few stiff cocktails to console myself. Should you want to join on any part of this pity-fest, let me know. But as for ride details, here they are:

Date: Saturday, June 2nd
Time: 7:30am meet; 8:00am roll
Meet Location: Encanto Park, 751 Encanto Pkwy, Duarte
Mileage: Approx. 70 roundtrip we will climb up Hwy 39 and Little GMR (GRR) and come back down Big GMR
Elevation: Approx. 5,000 ft
Water Stops: Two- East Fork on the way up and in Baldy Village. If you'd like to be a Fred and wear your camelback proudly, please do! I may join you if it's hot that day! Regardless, I am a Fred...:D
Route: http://www.bikeforums.net/showpost.p...&postcount=302
Pace/Type of Ride: Baldy isn't easy, but this is more a "social" ride than a training ride. No one will be dropped, but as with all rides, please know your level and come prepared. :o
Lunch: We can grab a snack in the village before descending and then lunch at RANCHERO, located at 1501 E. Huntington. http://www.sangabrielvalleymenus.com...heroduarte.htm

Oh Great!

So now, while I'm riding the Eastern Sierra Double, I'll be thinking, "I could have been riding GMR!"

Oh well, that's the way it goes. GMR will be there later . . .

Best Regs,
Rick / OCRR

I'd love too, but I'll be in Lake Tahoe getting ready to ride the Century around Lake Tahoe on Sunday, June 3rd with my wife and her TnT group.

But if you or any other BF members are interested on Memorial Day, 5/28/07 I am planning on driving up to the base of Mt Pinos and doing climbing repeats on Mt Pinos. We do these to prep ourselves for the Death Ride in July. Each climb is about 8.5 miles long with approx. 2400 climbing just a little less than 5% avg gradient. Starts at 6,000 ft and climbs to a little over 8,000 ft. We usually do 2-4 repeats depending on how people are feeling. The nice thing is that at that altitude you are in the trees, and temperatures are much cooler than they are down in the LA area.

I'm in!!!
How about an option for climbing to the lifts?
I would like to go up to lifts if anyone wants to join me!

merider1 05-10-07 03:33 PM

:o Ahhh...I  you people too (thanks Ronjon) and I'm so excited. Yes, Karen, I will climb to the lifts with you as I've never been up. Those who do not want to can hang at the lodge and enjoy some refreshments. :)
