Palomar Happiness, Out n Back Pie 2 on June 24, Sunday

After feeling good on Baldy, I'm looking to put in another long day on the mountain this sunday (geared bike this time), the wife has her best friends grad party to go to, so I got the green light to ride and that I will. I won't be in any rush to get home for dinner or such

Plans to ride from Harrah's, leave about 8am (I can't ride earlier), early group is welcome to leave early if wanted. Ride up South Grade, Go to the observatory before it warms up too much, down East grade, refill at the Lake, Up Mesa Grande to 79 and Pie. Return route via back up Mesa Grande, Up East Grade, maybe a second trip to observatory (pending on leg numbness), down South grade to the cars.

Long day on the bike, lots of climbs, hope to have some friends out there to share the pain with
Estimate about 100+/-5 miles, 1/3 of that is DH but the other 2/3 are about 12k ft of climbing.

Are you nuts?

I'd join you, except I'm going to be out of town.

Jason... shouldn't it be "I'm going to be out of town "???

It's true that I'm going to be out of town.

It's also true that it means I can't do this ride.

Though I guess if I were in town, I'd probably be doing Grand Tour this coming weekend, so on second thought, I probably wouldn't be able to make it to this ride anyway.

I'm confused. My head hurts.

I'm used to that phrase already To bad you won't be here, though now you brought up the LA GT, I'd assume I'll be riding alone this sunday

As much as I'd love to use this as my recovery ride from the Grand Tour, I just can't make it. Next time!

Palomar is in my backyard....I can ride there if wanted but never wanted to LOL
I can go any weekend. GMR was great but that traffic sucked A$$, having to clutch kick 1st n 2nd gear for 2 hours after that type of ride really didn't work for me. Next time I'll stay for the after party

I'd join except:

1) I'm doing the GT Highland on Saturday
2) I don't want to. (Now that Scootcore has established this as a legitimate excuse, it feels liberating to use it.)

Oh, for cry eye! This is going to be the new excuse used on all rides where we just "don't want to!"

it wasn't THAT bad last time for you was it? I think I'll be doing this route almost every other weekend, I want to get my climbing legs.

I rode up southgrade this morning at 5:15am, should have brought the camera, the sunrise coming up the 76 was SWEET. Was back at the car a lil before 8am.

I would go, but:

1) I'm going to a social gathering the night before and won't be up anywhere close to early
2) I don't want to (wow, that does feel liberating)

Actually the real reason is the GT. There is no chance that I will want to do Palomar as a "recovery" ride after Saturday.
