To the rider in red jersey w/ blinkies & helmet light

(If you read BF):

I saw you turn onto Lake this evening in your red jersey and commented to myself that it's smart for you to have a front and rear blinky plus a helmet light while riding at dusk (especially with your twitchy riding style), then you show me up by making a jerky and early lane change that kept the drivers guessing. After that, you proceeded to pass the cars in the left turn lane by riding on the wrong side of the road while opposing traffic was getting a green light. Your left turn seemed to catch the lead car by surprise (it would surprise me too to see a cyclist passing me on the left when I'm in the left turn lane). At least you seemed aware of your surroundings when I passed you in my car, but during your short time on Lake, you're lucky somebody didn't hit you.

Those kinds of illegal moves give us all a bad name. Please read up on vehicle code and follow it before you end up the topic of one of these threads like that guy in San Diego. Thank you.

Sorry, the guy just pissed me off so much I had to write about it. I know he probably won't ever see this, but I needed to vent. I've never seen a cyclist do so many risky and stupid things in such a short amount of time.

And I thought running red lights was pretty awful moves. Maybe the guy was DUI. Or is is better labeled RUI.

It's OK, he was wearing a helmet.

He's definitely a hazard and gives us a bad name. I especially hate the fact that he passed cars making a left turn, on the left side, in the lane of opposing traffic, then running a red. Complete ass!

Good, Tyler. I'm proud of you of for putting some positive effort into creating a future safe environment for both cyclists and mototorists in hopes that no one gets hurt and that everyone follows the laws! You're really suprising me with your excellent attitude. You passing around flyers may actually bring this to the attention of more cyclists who don't read BF. So, I for one, applaud you.

Doesn't that just prove that "riding without a helmet is actually safer" argument?

Just to clarify, he didn't run a red. We were northbound on Lake and the light turned green just as he swerved into the southbound lane, then took the right-of-way from the other cars turning left onto Woodbury.

I watched "The Graduate." It was one of the optional films to watch in the "United States in the 1960's" class I took in college.

I remember wanting to own an Alpha Romeo convertible for several years after seeing that film when it first came out.

More the "I'm wearing a helmet so I am protected from my own stupidity" argument.
