Anyone else enjoy today's rain?

I went out in a t-shirt and shorts around 10 am in Los Angeles as it looked like the rain was done from last night. I got soaked, but it was so nice to have a proper rain ride. It's been well over a year since we've had rain like that in the city. Plus being from Seattle and riding my fender clad commuting bike it was kind of like cheating. I only saw two other riders, one in West Hollywood and another by the Grove. The drivers were very courteous and patient today. Maybe it was because of Yom Kippur and most folks were walking?

Anyways, sitting down to a nice cup of coffee and a warm fleece.

Hope everyone had a good day if you braved the weather or not.

It was very nice on the bike today. I had shorts on, too, but a rain jacket on top. I went out after the major downpour so the sun was shining. Nice clean feeling in the air...

Yes. The rain scared enough people away to have short lines at Disneyland.

8:00-10:00; 2 hours spinning class in Santa Monica (Colorado Ave);
I think I sweat more than I do in a century...
Was fun riding to loud music, but I still felt that I am missing the weekend ride.

Out in the desert we didn't have any rain, but I had my high school cross country team in Hemet today, where it rained enough to frizz my hair. I loved it!

I couldn't do that with my dog. He was in the (very light) rain last night for a 10' walk from the car to the house and he felt the need to shake 3 times!

Well, it wasn't during the heavy rain, and I need to mop anyway.

I can't do it. I wish I did... Next weekend is the CCC (where I am going to do the 520+miles from SF to LA in 8 days) and when I posted "who`s doing the 'lite'" here is the reply I got from the 'management':
"Be careful about doing too much mileage the weekend before the tour, this is when you should be tapering, not trying to sneak in extra miles. Double check your training calendar to make sure you stay on track.
You want to go into the tour VERY rested and excited to ride. Trust me, I know itís hard to back off when you have gotten quite used to the level of training, but I have learned from experience that there is nothing you can do the week before the event training wise that is going to prepare you more, overtraining will just make you tired."

With that, I promissed the wife to take care of the kids so she can enjoy the weekend. Yet, I am going to the the SFVBC short ride in the mornning.

Have fun tomorrow, take pics!

I was happy to learn that my road bike doesn't fling water in my face riding to work today. It was liberating getting that thing soaked and dirty. I think I'll leave it filthy for a while

The foamy, oily, muddy road surface was disgusting, though.

My mtb with knobby did. When I got home and took a look at the mirror, it was as if I had some sort of illness.

Now that you mentioned it, I also rolled through a lot of oily puddles orange-brown in color.

No riding for me...the streets were flooded to about curb level and the water was moving pretty fast too.

It was the first Saturday I haven't ridden in I don't know how long. I would wait for one squall line to pass thru, get into some errand or chore and think ,ahhh, I'll go riding now, but then it would rain again, so I just blew it off finally. Not a bad thing this time of the year though.

I watched my yard smile greatly as it soaked up that wonderful rain.

So I'll go out for 3 or 4 hours today. Hope everyone has a great ride today.

It was nice, for a change. Ended up doing a mile swim at the gym in the outdoor pool....who cares if it's raining when you are already wet?

Yes! If you enjoy the rain, and have proper rain gear, that's the way to go! Whenever it starts to pour my kids start asking if we can go to Disneyland.

I ended up not riding at all yesterday but spent a quite, peaceful time laying some ceramic tiles out on the balcony.

I thought the rain was amazing, from my campus, my girlfriend and I could see the lightning all across LA and Malibu.

extreemly clear..Could see the Colors of Catalina, and not just an outline!!
And the lights tonight while driving.. amazing...

They closed the trail just after we entered the park for riding. I wondered why we were one of only a
couple groups we saw. Still amanged to get 12-15 miles in!

Fence line to Emerald ridge, down emerald ST to the canyon.
Climbed back out and took fenceline back over to ride down rattlesnake.
Then climbed out again for a return to the car, and a Ranger monitoring the trail head..

I was refereeing a girls U12 game in that downpour, it started just before the game began and I could hardly see a thing with my glasses getting soaked and no hat. Then the sun came out and it must have been 99% humidity.
