Millies is still cool, but not like it was like 15 years ago. That Cuban bakery is no more. It became an Italian joint. Pioneer Market became Wallgreens....what a waste...

No Cuban bakery? I used to get those great mango/cream cheese pies there...I think that's what they were...(maybe guava/cc)?

And cappuccino for 65 cents...

I hope the Italian place is good at least....

They're opening a Pinkberry on Myrtle in downtown Monrovia - so no having to trek over to Old Town Pasadena for me.

Me loves a medium original with double mochi and strawberries.

Haven't seen it, but I did read the script. Holy crap. Grabs ya by the throat and doesn't let go. I was wrung out by the time I finished it (it kept me awake reading until 3 a.m.).

It's available online, but if you're planning to see the movie, it'd be a spoiler.

Worth seeing. Very violent. There's about 30 minutes that is probably as good as moviemaking gets...

The girls don't get their own private one? Too bad...

Sounds like a good workout.

Glad you avoided the wreck! Yikes!

The violence is keeping me from going. I'm so squeamish. But I really do want to see how the bros. Coen had their way with the script.

The script reads as if it had been written by a cinematographer: very visually-oriented but without over-explaining the shots. Nice.

Thanks, Alice. It gets crazy out here on the roads when it rains. I gave up long time ago driving aggressive. I get as far over as possible and move along with the slow traffic. I guess riding tomorrow is out.

+1 I'm the same way. I couldn't watch the Kill Bill trilogy because of the violence. I just can't stomach it anymore.

Yeah, even though I know it's fake, my mind still says, "But it could be real!"

The last violent flick I saw was "Sin City." I had to excuse myself a bunch of times to go out in the lobby and catch my breath and unclench my fists. I was surprised to see parents with young kids in the audience. Maybe they were confused by the concept of a comic book-themed movie?

Around that same time, I saw "Team America" in the theater. I was in the powder room after the film let out, and a little girl, maybe 10 years old, came into the sink area, singing the theme song..."America, [f-word] Yeah!" I LOL'd.

As I recall, there are only two movies in the Kill Bill series.

And Sin City was awesome.

A good movie without violence out now: Juno
It's about teen pregnancy, but not in the "Movie of the Week" style.

They're opening one in Hermosa, too. Strange location, though. It's on PCH in an area with almost no pedestrian traffic and little parking. One would think they'd put a shop like that closer to the Pier.

I haven't seen a movie in such a long time, I don't know what's out there anymore. I think I'll just watch my Netflix.

Juno is THE movie to see. My hypercritical film student daughter has seen it twice...that's a "good review".

My sister said it is hilarious...

Looks like we may not get much rain today, if any, in LA. I may just ride for some coffee with my favorite bike and mug later on.

Really? When I look on weather.com, it shows showers with a 90% chance of precipitation with breaks in between. Burbank says 80% chance of showers lessening later, then showers at night.
