Google Earth Elevation Question

Does anyone know how to calculate altitude on google earth ? i just figuered out how to measure distance and path distance but I cant figure out how to gauge or calculate altitude.

When I need an altitude I go over to Topozone, call up the correct USGS map, and check the contour lines for elevations. A lot of road junctions and major landmarks have exact elevations noted on the maps.

Hey, Google Earth for Dummies makes a wonderful Holiday gift idea. In fact, I'll make a list of all the Dummies titles and go from there. Why didn't I think of that! What a dummy.

I use https://www.gmap-pedometer.com when I want to map a route and see the elevation changes. Very easy to use.

i use gmap-pedometer as well. it has the usgs topo maps built in, just hit the topo button next to the map and satallite buttons

Google Earth shows elevation at the bottom as you mouse over the map.
