    Rose Parade 2008

Where is a good place to meet for a ride to the Rose Parade? Encanto Park in Duarte?

Where would be a good place to watch the parade?

The best place to watch it is on tv.

It's insane around here from the night before the parade, I don't know if I would want to ride a bike anywhere near here.

Where I grew up, my street was part of the staging area (it parallels Orange Grove). I've had enough Rose Parade to last a lifetime!

That's the parade I want to see. I like saying Doo-Da.

This is really depressing: stay away from Pasadena, watch the parade on TV, sick of Rose parade, when is the Doo-Da...

Doesn't anyone like to go to the Rose Parade anymore??

I would be impressed if you could manage to ride in the parade (as in, break through the barriers, and hold an impromptu road race during the parade). Your only obstacles would be marching bands and horse ****, really. The floats are easy to pass.

Otherwise, dullsville. If you're native enough, you don't even bother thinking about the Rose Parade (you go skiing/snowboarding instead!)
    Weight weenies keep it light.

My wife is going to the parade, she did last year, too... However, she's NOT riding a bike to it.

Or you head to Manhattan Beach for the Holiday Ride and join hundreds of roadies racing balls-out to the top of Mandeville Canyon.

(I'll just watch from a respectful distance)

Well, I'm not really a "parade" kind of gal to be truthful. And yes, TONS of people like to go the Parade. Like John mentioned, it's a zoo in Pasadena the night before and day of. As to why you're depressed...????

I'll watch with you. Perhaps one will flat and need help pumping up his tube.

You do that. I'll stay with the rider and keep his muscles warm and limber.

The Doo Dah Parade was the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Mt Wilson is a good place to Watch the Rose Parade. You are eye level with the Stealth Bomber Seriously, the L.A. Wheelmen ride to the Parade from Griffith Park I think.

I've found that those racers generally don't want to be bothered when it comes to whipping their tube out. Now, if you want to help hold while I pump, I'm sure that will work fine. Get with the program, Happy, or I'll have delegate you to just holding the rim steady.

Why did Happy say it was January 20th. Happy?

My wife wants to walk to the parade route the night before and camp out. I was the drum major of my high school marching band, and I've had enough of parades to last me a lifetime, but it will be an experience to remember I'm sure.

I'm pretty sure there is more than one doo-dah parade. Don't other cities have their own?

I don't know. I've only ever heard of the Pasadena Doo-Dah.
