Rode out in the Santa Monicas today. Started at Michael Landon park and went north on PCH to Mulholland Highway. It was very quiet up there today. In a few spots there were some serious temp. differentials - I'm thinking 10-15 degrees. At the 30 mile marker stopped at The Rock Store which is a big biker (motorcycle) pit stop for those that don't know. After some pancakes continued down Mulholland Highway. Truned right on Old Topanga Canyon Rd for a nice quiet climb. Ran into 2 other cyclists up there so if they're on the boards then Hi! Took Old Topanga to Topanga Canyon Rd. and went back down to PCH. I swear PCH is a suicide trap (and that's coming from a former Boston bike courier). After the sketchyness on PCH ended back at Michael Landon. Total trip distance about 61 miles or so.
This was my first ride since switching from 172.5 to 165mm cranks and oh my god what a difference. Something is still a bit off but it was much better. There was another group at the park who had a crash occur. I saw the Scott frame and it was absolutely destroyed. Apparently the rider was taking a drink and hit a bump, lost control, and crashed into a few signs. If you're on the board then get better soon! We also got passed by a group of about 15 or so wearing NOW (No Opportunity Wasted) jerseys. Anyone know about them?
