Failure to Stop.........

I know you're all just sitting on the edge of your seats waiting to find out just how much this little infraction is going to cost. Well if I decideto pay on-line, which I'm not, that will cost an extra $10.00 for that convenience. The ticket itself, for failure to stop at a stop sign in the city of Redondo Beach is $159.00. plus points on your driving record. So, I guess they'll be seeing me in court.

Sorry about the ticket.

Did they have the electric signs up and the enforcement team on the Esplanade again?

Were you on your bike ? If so, infractions while riding a bicycle DO NOT cause points to be added to your driving record. However, if your drivers license # was recorded on the citation, tis information is held on your record for a pre-determined amount of time. Make sure where the vehicle information is recorded that it states BICYCLE. This ensures that no points are given if you plead /elect to pay the fine.

And if not, you're off Scott free because the ticket was filled out incorrectly, right?

why would you take this to court? Did you not blow the stop? Just pay. I was forced to sit in that court room a few years back and so sad watching everyone try and get out a ticket. Man up already. And no it won't go on your dr.

You don't mention whether or not you were on a bike, maybe an SUV?

Yep, as long as I can remember the fines have been the same. They're just not supposed to put it on your record. I'm not even sure where I stand on the driving record issue, but that's where it is.

California Vehicle Code 1803(b)(6) is the relevant law indicating that bicycling tickets aren't supposed to go on your driving record. You might try calling the court to remind them of this vehicle code section and that the violation was on a bicycle.

Did the crime in Newport Beach and paid the fine. Failure to stop and it was rather expensive but did not count on my driving record

Damn, I almost never stop at a sign. I do slow down and make sure it's clear and safe, but never do I come to a complete stop. Last weekend up in Ventura as we were doing a 200K brevet a cop sounded his siren in a little burp and gave me a dirty look, but that's the worse that I've got.
