2008 Encino Velodrome Season Opener

Track bicycle racing at the Encino Velodrome is arguably the best FREE bicycle related
entertainment in southern California. Racers will be competing on the 30 degree
banked 250 meter track at speeds in excess of 30 miles per hour on special bicycles
with only 1 Gear and NO BRAKES. You won't want to miss the MADISON where team
mates throw each other into the race with a hand sling. Riders in the Japanese
style KEIRIN race will be paced up to 30 miles per hour by a motorcycle until the
final 2 1/2 lap sprint to the finish line.

The Encino Velodrome is located just off the Oxnard Street bike path in Encino in
the Franklin Fields Baseball complex, conveniently located in the Sepulveda Basin
just a few miles from the intersection of the 101 and 405 freeways in the San Fernando
Valley.
