Crystal Lake and Beyond Saturday 3/29
I'm gonna climb up Hwy 39 past Crystal Lake to AC and go as far as possible on AC towards Dawson Saddle. Leaving from Encanto Park at 8am. A friend is bringing water test kits, we are going to test the water coming from the springs out of the side of the mountain. I know the locals up there drink that water but a test would calm any fears I have.

Carrie and I are going, but she is leaning toward the Baldy ride. Is the Baldy group going up to East Fork and Little GMR? Maybe Laura will convince her to go 39?

So, how about a report? How far did you go? Your cars were still there when I got done. We had a great time. Carrie really enjoyed her first time up to the village.

We had a hard but great ride. 80 miles 9700 ft. The sun was out on the way to Dawson, we made it about 2miles up to where the plow has stopped, elev. 7200 ft .When we got back down to Islip the clouds had blown in and it was cold. Fortunately as we made it down to the lower elevation it got warmer
It was nice at Williams Camp but Little GMR is hard after that 32+ mile climb to AC. There were a few others up there yesterday, a very select group. Lee took pictures and Laura took a water test. We'll know about that on Monday. Really just another memorable day in the San Gabriels.

Bob- is highway 39 rideable to AC Highway/ Islip Saddle then? I was there 6 weeks ago and it was blocked by a huge landslide.
