Palomar Mtn [South Grade] Times

I'd be interested to know what kind of times are people getting for this climb?

I've timed myself the last couple of visits and got 1hr30 and 1hr28. Timed from the Taco shop to the intersection next to the store/restaurant.

Cheers!

I'm quite a bit slower than that. My best have been in the 1:40's. Nowadays, probably closer to 2:10.

1:09:30 last May. Right now I'm guessing I could do it in about 1:05.

From Harrah's I do about 2 hours rolling time, with a short break at the fork. In other words, slow.

1. 10mph over that grade/distance is quite good.

2. anything higher is very good.

3. there are some nut cases who can do it at over 13mph.

4. screw those guys.

On this day and others if I am doing repeats I will keep it between 1:25 and 1:35. I have consistently done this climb in under 1:15 when only going up once with a PR under 1:05.

Well I'm sure the guys I'm riding with on Thursday will have to wait for me at the top. How long the wait is yet to be determined. I guess it depends on how hard they ride that day. I'll be in tourist mode (which is my standard mode BTW).

I'm in the 1h 40 range, goal is to break 90 minutes this yr. I'm no where near that form so we'll see. I'm not a very strong climber, but do enjoy it...mostly cuz I know there is a good downhill coming up soon

I don't think you timed yours properly. I'm 1h50m from casino to stores and your speed is noticeably faster than mine.

For some reason, I always missed the taco store is.

Dave, the taco shop is where the turn onto the start of the climb is. And yes, I'm quite sure jsigone can break 1:40 easily. I've done 1:45 on century pace, and he's a good bit faster than I was last fall.

last time I was up there solo, was 1h40 min and was taking pictures along the way LOL was a good excuse for light pedaling for a bit haha.

For the pie century I did 1hr 38 and had a phone call in the middle of it. Was climbing with Extort til I got that call....and couldn't catch back up to him. I was trying to save energy for the rest of the day and it seemed to work because I had lot of it going into Ramona to wild animal park and even up Lake Wolford.

I think I'm at least in the ballpark of those numbers. I'll be taking pictures too, so I have my excuse already set.

Just slightly above the 1 hr mark. No wonder some of the photos have a bit of motion blur.

BP is an animal. I thought i was flying up Circle R during one of our club rides - and i was compared to everyone else - but about 2/3 up, he went rolling by on his single speed CX bike, not even breathing hard.
