"Crash" Maxwell earns name the hard way
Thought I'd do a column on National Bike to Work Week. Sadly, not too many riders out. But meeting "Crash" Maxwell made the trip all worthwhile and reminded me why we ride. Family man, bicycle commuter and crazed mountain biker! Check him out here:

There was a decent amount of riders out this week in Pasadena. Maybe it's not fashionable behind the Orange Curtain to do something eco-friendly?

I don't see too many riders out, but maybe that's because I leave home at 6 AM and then leave work at 6 PM.

I didn't pedal to work, but I was on an early morning ride this morning and I did notice a little more cycling action than usual. I did loops on Fiesta Island. But maybe it was just the normal Mission Bay commuters.

I rode to work Tues and today and saw the same number of other cyclists I usually see - zero.

I ride to work 4-6 days a week for the last 7 years and I have seen many new faces on the SGRT in the last month or so. Looks like gas prices are pushing a few more to ride to work.

There's been an increase of riders in the West Covina area...not sure if it's just a perceptual shift on my part or more people are really riding.

I do think more people are riding to work, but it's such a dang small number. If only drivers could cut cyclists a little more slack!
