Official ggallin vs cjbruin Race Thread

The short version...
  • On May 22nd, Tyler (ggallin) challenged me (cjbruin) to a race.
  • I declined his offer but he kept bringing it up (a total of four times on 5/22 & 5/23).
  • Since he would not let it go, I challenged him to come out to the Piru 40K Time-Trial on 5/31...loser reimburses the winner for the $25 entry fee.
  • Tyler came up with a BS excuse...something about not wanting to pay to ride his bike.
  • I countered that I would pay his entry fee.
  • In the meantime, Placid Casual suggested that we should race from Tangs Donut Shop in Silver Lake to San Pedro
  • I agreed that this was also a good idea and suggested we do both races.
  • Ty-Ty has gone silent.
So...the following challenge is on the table:

Race #1 - May 31, 2008 Piru 40K TT (Info available at https://www.uncletren.com ). CJ will pay Tyler's $25 entry fee. If Tyler turns in a faster time, he wins the bragging rights. If CJ turns in a faster time, Tyler must pose for a photo while kissing CJ's lycra-clad ass. Photo to be taken with CJ's camera so he can post it in this thread.

Race #2 - Date TBD - Tangs to San Pedro followed by beers at Cabrillo Beach (beers to be provided by Placid Casual).

Will these races actually happen? It's all up to Tyler. It's hard to imagine that he would be too chicken to race a geriatric (yes, that's what he called me)...especially when it was his idea in the first place.

I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Make it fair. Loser of the Piru race has to kiss the winner's ass, no matter who loses. Loser of the Tangs race has to kiss the winner's face--again, no matter who loses or wins.

I hear what you're sayin' but I think paying his entry fee should make me exempt from the smooch. It looks like the point is moot anyway. Ty appears to be ducking me.

So you're valuing your butt kiss at $25?

What's the dress code? Equipment? Will Tyler be riding fixed? Will there be a video crew?

I have the video camera ready anytime... although with a "Body by Guiness" I might not be able to get CJ into the whole frame...

I think that the race should be from a starting point to an ending point and the route left up to each participant. That way each person can utilize their strengths (TT for CJ, Urban riding for GG) and all of us can have a great time.

That was why I suggested the two races. Piru is a closed course TT. I assume the Tangs ride would be more of a free for all where you pick your own route, run red lights, etc. The latter would certainly favor Ty-Ty. Of course, both races should realistically favor him since I'm old and brittle. Oh and fat (as you so nicely pointed out).
