But...you know the pockets that zip? I really like those on the back of a couple of jerseys and on some cycling pants. I don't worry so much about my keys or wallet getting lost...

I wear my cycling shorts for any ride over 20 miles and a soccer/running shirt to evaporate the sweat.

As for fitness rides: I wear cycling shorts and a jersey.

In general, I wear regular casual clothers for commuting and running errands (this accounts for the majority of time on the bike but ultimately less miles). I really find it enjoyable when I have to slow down as a means of not breaking a sweat. I think jeans, t-shirts, shorts, and sneakers are the perfect things for riding....just make sure you have a little sit-bone protection if you're going to be on the bike all day long.

Can't afford jersey so we ride in tank-tops. Max distance is 20 miles so we don't need no stinking pockets!

Aside from a bias towards stock bike shorts I just dress according to temperature. Over 70 F I go to an open mesh safety vest.

I have this same dilemna. I wear bike shorts under my normal shorts and a cycling jersey when I go out for my rides. The extra pair of shorts make the ride a bit more sweaty but I also try not to draw attention to myself, plus I feel naked if I just wear my bike shorts. Maybe on my next ride I will wear just the shorts. Does anyone feel the same way?

I don't really wear BIKE shorts perse, but I do wear underarmor type workout shorts...and they both wick and support me and the boys the way I like...AND they prevent chaffing...again, I only commute like 20 miles one way so in a long distance I might eat crow and end up buying a pair of shorts.

and I THOUGHT I'd NEVER want to get a bike jersey...till I was in REI today picking up some stuff...

PEEP THIS!!!

THIS WILL BE MINE!!!

REd white and green? That's the Mexican version of the AM flag!...You can get the real red white and blue by doing the Ca Triple Crown series(3 double centuries in one year).

I'm a bib-style shorts guy with a plain jersey. I do a lot of adventure racing and often just wear a long-sleeve coolmax shirt with no pockets, since I usually wear a camelbak, even to train to stay used to it for racing.

Black and white checkerboard PEUGEOT jersey (what else would you wear on a Pug?), black cycling shorts and my period-correct DETTO shoes with toe cages.

For top if under 20 miles I will wear just a light colored tee shirt made of wicking material. Over 20 miles I'm a big fan of pearl izumi elite series. thermal jersey if under 70 degrees out.

Sport oriented boxer-briefs with semi-baggy zoic black market shorts (discontinued unfortunately!) Have never been a fan of padded shorts, maybe I just haven't used good enough pads. I have no problems riding 140 miles in boxer briefs and decent lightweight shorts.

I still use toe clips and love the adidas sambas originals shoe. Very stiff and lightweight, plus can walk around when off the bike. They last forever too.
