HB Commuters?
I know you are out there, I am seeing more and more of you riding to and from work.
I am just wondering if there are any bicycle commuters living in (or who travel through) Huntington Beach on that are on this forum?

I live in HB (near Adams & Bushard) and commute up the Santa Ana River Trail into Santa Ana (near the Courthouse). Started doing so 4 weeks ago and am thoroughly enjoying myself.

I live/work in HB, but bike commute more in the cooler winter months.
Since ya'all live in HB, and probably do a little recreational/fitness riding on your off days, maybe the City's "Green" initiative might interest you. Its intereting in that it DOES NOT mention, or advocate, using a bicycle for transportation:
https://www.ci.huntington-beach.ca.us...ts/green_city/
Go to the bottom of the link and there's another link to transporation - no mention of bicycles in that either.

Of course, the only commuting I'm doing these days is to the bathroom, since I'm not working...

Good luck on the house. When might you find out?
Hopefully we'll cross paths sometime.

Yup, you're close all right. It's a condo, not a house...but that's ok, if I never do a lawn again it'll be too soon. I put bids on three of the same model condos in the same tract about three months ago. One is a probate sale so who knows when that one will pop up and be available. The other two are short sales and I've been waiting on the banks all this time, I was supposed to get a final answer yesterday, it's on the managers desk...but I've been told one week, one month so many times it's NOT funny and haven't got an answer yet. It's extremely frustrating waiting for answers from people who could really care less. Hopefully we'll be neighbors soon, I'll let you know.

I work at Graham and McFadden, but live in Rancho Santa Margarita. I'd like to commute by bike, but it's something like 32 miles each way and we don't have showers at work.

That would be one monster commute. I understand why you don't . . . but it would be interesting to see if you could.

Do any of you ride along PCH on a regular basis?
I commute down PCH from Warner/PCH to Superior/PCH daily and there are few faces that I see on a regular basis. Most of them are much faster than me so even getting out a "Hello!" can be hard before they are 1/2 mile ahead of me.

I live near Bushard and Banning in South East Huntington Beach. I can't commute to work, primarily due to distance and logistical issues, but I do ride a couple of times per week depending on my kids, wife, work, dogs, or you name it. You can find me on the SART riding out to the 91 and back or on PCH headed to or from Long Beach a couple of times a week. I wish I could find more time ride! I DO use my beach cruiser to ride down to mainstreet or to the beach for some body surfing.
Here's a picture of my bike in case you want to say "Hi," or "Get out of my way." I have yet to ride with a partner or group and think it would be great! (By the way, all the Mavic stickers are now OFF my wheels).
Best regards and Be Safe! Fighting Forty for another year!

Wow cool...I lived on Santa Lauretta St. My place was three houses in from the entrance on Newland St., in fact my house backed to Newland St. I loved living there, but divorce put an end to that dream house.

Well, it looks like I'll be moving back to HB pretty soon, I WILL get one of the places I put bids on and now it's just a matter of choosing which one I want the most!!! I'll be about a quarter of a mile North of Adams on the East side of Bushard and I should be in before the end of August if all goes well.
Of course, I'll have so much to do that it might effect my riding time.

Here's one of me...it's what you'll see of me as you come up to pass me.
It's an 04 Specialized Roubaix Pro, just like it came from the dealer still.
