Was anybody on the bike during the quake?
 

I was sitting at my desk, felt pretty cool til about the 20 second mark, then I thought this could get ugly.

I wasn't, but I'm curious how it would feel if you were just riding along and a quake happened....

A friend was and he said he didn't even feel it, just felt like a big gust of wind.

I was actually on a BBQ forum when the quake struck.

I was in my office getting for a ride, didn't feel a thing. When I walked out my door, everyone was standing outside talking about the earthquake. I felt so left out...

I ws riding the Mtb in San Clemente ( san Onofre state park . There is a crap load of singletrack there.)
Didn't even notice the quake, but then maybe it's what caused me to go off the trail. And here I thought it was
my poor riding ability....

I think I did around 18 miles and 2k+ of climbing. This is because I got "lost" twice.....

yep. I was just coming back from red box and was heading down the street I live on. Some people in their yards giving me funny looks and my wife came out as soon as I rolled up. I had no idea anything happened.

Moral of the story, be on your bike a lot in case the big one comes.

I was on the 3rd floor of an 8 story building and it shook quite a bit.

I was riding to work on my road bike during the Whittier Narrows earthquake and didn't feel a thing. When I got to work hundreds of people were standing out in the parking lot and I had no idea what had happened.

So +1 for riding during an earthquake as long as you aren't under and overpass. :)

I was at work on the 22nd floor in Universal City and let me tell you, high rises really suck!
People were ready to run.

I did my usual ride up Big Tujunga yesterday and noticed alot more than usual rocks and dirt past the white line along the mountain. Looks like some stuff came down in most areas.

No I wasn't ON a Bike, I was putting a road bike together for a Friend on my Patio when it happened, so that almost counts, right?

I work in a high rise and the office is not far (a few miles) from the quake epicenter. I had literately told a friend just an hour before, it's been a really long time since we felt a quake and then it happened! Maybe I am the cause? :(

As soon as it started I knew it was a quake and a good one at that. Love working in a building with rollers... the building rocked (gently) for a whole minute.

Love watching "newbies"... we have a whole lot of people who had never experienced a quake now in the office. After all the shaking was done someone was screaming "get in a doorway" and "back away from the windows!" Uh, quake is over? No panicking is necessary. And talk about overreaction. The entire building (20 stories) was evacuated and we were sent home. Then I got on a bike! ;)

Five miles from epicenter, the whole classroom shook, a few beakers flew off the lab bench...

How does that story go again about the French girls biking on the cobblestones?

This thread made me recall a MTB ride many years ago during a quake. I was near the top of Box Springs Mountain (Riverside) when a fair size quake hit. There are large amounts of granite boulders and granite formations around. The large boulders really do knock and rumble like the soundtrack form a bad earthquake movie. I was right underneath some and it scared the heck out of me.

I didn't even feel it (I was in LA this last week). I was outside the LAFCU, heard the blinds rattle, but didn't feel anything. Afterwards I went to the Getty with my girlfriend and heard everyone talking about the quake and we just looked confused about the whole thing. But to answer the original question, no, I wasn't on my bike. I didn't even bring it with me, so I haven't been on it since Saturday. :cry: Tomorrow...nice long ride tomorrow.....

Ummm...I think they were nuns biking on cobblestones...:p
