Visiting San Diego - Road ride suggestions?

Hi,

I will be in San Diego this coming Friday through the following Tuesday on business and would like to rent a bike for a 60-100 mile ride on Saturday. In addition, I'd like a few 30-50 milers for the rest of the week when I have time. I'll be staying near the Convention Center (Gaslight Hilton) and would love some route suggestions - especially if they are mapped or in a GPX format. Since I've never ridden there, preference would be for a scenic route (hills are not a problem).

Also, any suggestions for a rental place? I see there's one within walking distance, The Bike Revolution/San Diego Bike Tours, anyone know if they have decent rides?

Many thanks & hope to see you on the road!

Bob

My bro-in-law rented from Bike Tours when he was here earlier this year. Heavier Jamis steel or aluminum bike which I think is ok. No issues in terms of mechanicals.

The other rental places I know of are further away.

rent a car and come ride with us on Palomar Sunday morning leaving Harrah's Casino at 7am. Planned route is 60 miles and about 7k of climbs. PM me for details if you want to climb.

Thanks for the suggestions so far - unfortunately I can't make the Sunday morning ride, I have to work around 11 for a few hours. My longer ride will be Saturday. I just created a route that I might try, 50 miles 1 way so it will make a century. Any thought?

no need to go to the base, just stop at the Harbor, save that 1 mile cus it's not worth it unless you get on the base. If you get tired on the way back you can cut across Nimitz to Harbor Drive rather then going down by Ocean Beach.
