Friday the 17th......Figured I would try out my new crosstraining program. Do the parents' yard, go to breakfast then hit up GMR. Didn't feel like getting stuck in the middle of the mtns alone so I did Big GMR twice. Climbed the 8 miles, headed down to the bottom then did it again. Good workout! I felt good the first time. Actually surprised how good I felt at the top of the first climb. Don't ask about the second climb. I made it but it hurt!...4400 ft of climbing in 16 miles and 16 miles of DH, 32 miles for the record!

Didn't get out there till 2:30 pm. Only other rides I were wimmins. 3 solo riders! :GurlPower!

About 3.5 miles up

7 miles up the first time, still able to smile!

Who needs a helicopter when you got a bike? We don't need no shtinkin' helicopters!..But thanks Merckx Dude! Great smile, NAAAHHH! Killer sexy? Yes!..that's a joke!

Saturday April 18th......42 miles. Plenty of riders on the trail but nobody at the beachstop. I did feel really good to day and Gina kicked some butt! Did happen to see Lucas for the first time in a LOOOONG time. Good to see him again! Alex was on one of his LOOOONG rides and showed up right as we were about to leave. He claims he was tired so I let him use me like a punk for a good 10 mile tow back to our turnoff. Then the Postal Birdie Flew! Look at those legs!

Nice day, warm and sunny. First tanktop ride in a log time. Boy do I need a tan!

Gina and Alex

After a tow, the bird is set free to fly!

Fly Postal Birdie, FLYYYY!

I gotta get in there once in a while!

Hi there Beanz, It sure was nice to see you and Gina at the Beach Stop today. Yeah, it has been a long time since we ran into each other. Anyway, congrats on the GMR climbs.

My regards to Gina.

Had a chance to run the SART today but for some reason I didn’t see Mr. Beanz. But I do believe I say SD Mike. He just passed by going the other way faster than I could get his attention. At least I saw someone fitting his description as we passed the Big A about 9:30.

It was a good idea we were given to part off of Gypsum Canyon and we had no trouble with any of the vehicles.

Got on at the trail about Wier Canyon and started down towards the beach about 8:45 or so, it was a perfect day.

We got down to the beach before 11am. Decided to go south towards NewPort.

We had lunch outside of Newport at Ruby’s and then rode down towards Laguna for a few miles to get a climb or two in.

I ended up waiting at Crystal Cove for two back stragglers and we started back for the SART about 1pm. Had to stop to fix a tire with the old Cliff wrapper trick on the way back just passed Katella.

We crossed the last bridge about 3:45 heading back to the vehicles and people were still smiling.

All in all I would say we will be doing this ride again and the group might even be larger.

Good meeting up with you and Gina, Mr. Beanz! Nice talking with people at the stop.

Riding back was great. It was a challenge to ride with strong riders (you and Jeff), and fun. Hope we didn't upset the Missus too much!

Bicycling is such a nice sport!

4/19....37 miles.....Lots of people out today. Ran into TerBennett at the start. Some good bike talk then saw Pinoybentrider and his buddy down the trail. Had to turn back for an action shot. Then off to catch Gina as she continued on. She put a hurt on me to the coast. Saw the regulars, Tammy, Alan (on a new bike), MTBLurker and a few others. Condorita on the trail then at the coast, woman is everywhere! A visit and some laughs with friends at the beach stop. Then back into the heat with Gina, Prolene and Jeff. I did see a group go by and a gal shout "Beanz". I'm pretty sure it was Jan B of Temecula. I knew they'd be back on our trail Hehehe! They like it!LOL!

Prolene and Jeff picked up the pace after a few action shots. Gina says go with them, she'd be ok. SO I do. I'm doing 27 mph and I got dropped, What's in that new bike Prolene? We ride together for a while then I turn back and wait for Gina cause the heat is too hot with Jeff and Prolene, I Got to get out of the kitchen! I turn back and wait for Gina more than happy to slow my pace. Then she pulls, expecting to slow down but she puts a hurt on me too! She was doing about 20 on her own behind us. Not bad but....YOU CAN SLOW DOWN NOW!!!!!

Ran into Jeff at Edna Park and I was more than happy to stop for some water. Turned out to be really warm and dry by the end of the ride. Fun ride but next time I see these guys, I'm bringing my Cannondale! Hahaha!

TerBennett and YO!

PinoyBentrider. Thank goodness they were in cruise mode or I would have never caught the guys!

Catching back up to Gina after a short chat with PBrider. Always happy to take a Sir-Mix-A-Lot picture

Haven't seen this guy out there in a while! The always cheerful MTBLurker

Another pic of this gal cause like.....I really like this gal ALOT!

Condorita was out there. Not zactly sure why but she was upset and scolding her Bianchi like a lil kid. OK, not really but looks ik it in the pic!

Hey Beanzies, you didn't happen to see any crashes down that way today, did ya? Just got a text that a buddy of mine crashed and broke his hip on a ride today. He usually either rides the SA Trail or the Pomona/Fontana area on Sunday.

I was out there Saturday and Sunday between 2-5pm both days. Went from Green River road to Angel Stadium and back, a bit over 33 miles. Probably a little late in the afternoon for seeing people but I think I saw Alex out there, at least someone who looked like the d00d in the pictures.

That was quite a feat, turn back into a headwind to catch 2 hi-racers, chat and take pictures, turn around and catch Gina. The GMR training rides must be doing some good. Appreciate the effort and the camaraderie, Beanz. Are you riding GMR this Friday?
There's a ride on SART which I and the Rivervelo boys will be participating this coming saturday. It's for a good cause. Price includes a jersey and a lunch. It starts and ends at Yorba Linda, if interested.

I should be on GMR Friday! I need some training!...,I wish I could do the ride, but $70 for Gina and I is a little much!....I met the organizer dude about 3 weeks ago, gave me a flyer but money is too tight in dis economy! Looks like a good bunch though, sounds like good food.

I saw the Rivervelo Boyz near Edna Park. Must have been racing cause I saw them mixed with another group. The Boyz were spread all over the trail. I shouted out to Jose but he didn't hear me. We were on the path down in the park while the were on the trail. I did see a couple other scragglers behind. Must have been a fast pace ride that day!

I saw you on the trail, Robert. Or at least your group. Said Hi the second time, near Rio Bravo? or wherever the trail turns into an awkward sidewalk (JEO Wier Canyon). I made my short goal of 104 miles. Wasn't bad overall, but the heat didn't help in Riverside County. If the insurance adjusters are able to look at my car this week, I'm tempted to try again at the whole trail, with the 120-130 mile round trip. It was a lot of fun. I may have to ride that trail more often.

Hey, Beanzies, finally got to talk to my buddy today. He's still in the hospital but I think he's going home today. He was on the SART but I didn't find out where exactly. Said he was trying to catch some guy doing between 25 and 30mph and there was a sharp curve or turn in the trail. Said he couldn't hold his line around the curve and the back wheel slid out, he slid into a curb, and straight down on his hip. Cracked it and is off the bike for 4 months. Said it happened near a bridge so the ambulance was able to get there quickly and was only 5 minutes from UCI Irvine, I think. Anyway, just thought I'd let you know. I know I don't have to tell you as you've ridden that trail a thousand times at least but watch your speed on that thing. Take care.

Hey, Mr. Beanz! You were right-I yelled your name and Gina's. Al Bundy and some others from the Temecula/Murrieta area rode down from Murrieta to H.B. Sorry we didn't get to visit this time-maybe next time...

Anyone going out to SART this weekend starting around 7:30a this Saturday at the beach? I plan to give it another shot at going the whole distance along the trail from the beach to San Bernardino and back. Should be great weather for it.
