O.C. Poser Rider Jan. 25. 2009, 9:00 AM
Hi All SoCal bikeforumites,
Here it is, the long awaited announcement of the O.C. Poser ride. Following the excellent San Diego Poser ride, several of the O.C. Posers decided it would be a grand idea to come up with an O.C. version.
Who? Any rider from socalbikeforums, bikeforums.net/Southern California, plus any and all cycling clubs, including but not limited to: OC Rebels, Santiago Cycling, and BCI.
When? January 25, 2009, 9:00 AM start (i.e. be ready to ride at 9:00 AM, so plan to arrive by 8:45 AM approx.).
Why? Because O.C. riders need to be able to dress up in Pro Team (or similar) kit and be ready to pose for spectacular photographs at multiple locations in Orange County (while and after riding challenging climbs to majestic overlooks, etc.).
Where? Meet at: 27702 Crown Valley Pkwy Suite E-3, Ladera Ranch, CA, 92694 / Corner of Crown Valley Parkway and Cecil Pasture Road.
How far? Total distance will be 61.3 miles (almost 100 KM).
How many feet of altitude gain? 4,500 give or take a few feet.
And most important: How many coffe shop stops? Two (one at 33 miles, one at 52 miles). Pls. note: photos may be taken at any time, not only at the coffee shops!
Please print route sheet (attached) and bring it along.
Any questions? If so, pls. PM me!
Rick / OCRR

One thing Rick forgot to mention - lousy weather and/or rain automatically cancels the ride. If somebody wants to pose wet like a beaver - be my guest, but I won't be there to witness it (don't know about Rick).
Here is the elevation profile, for those of you who are not familiar with the area.
The start/finish area offers plenty of gourmet places to eat - Lamp post pizza, Togo's and even Burger King . There is also Starbucks and a micro-brewery . If that's not enough, there are more places about 1 mile from there on the corner of Crown Valley and Antonio.
Last but not least, Mark took excellent care of everybody on the SD ride. We'll try to match this, so nobody gets lost. However, try to be self sufficient and make sure you've got spare tubes, pump or CO2 etc.

Hopefully I'm in. Too bad you didn't include any steep climbs Jimmy - maybe Santa could bring me a compact...

Poseur clothes are suggested, but they are not a requirement. On the San Diego ride some guy showed up wearing an off-the-shelf red Performance jersey! Regardless, this rider (who I will not name, since I am a considerate guy) had a great time on the ride.
Another rider (woman) showed up in a mountain bike jersey, even though this is a road ride. Of course if you show up in a T-Shirt and Mountain bike shorts, you may not win the BIG PRIZE, but who cares? You can still have a fun time on the ride .
So no worries! You can pose in an old T-Shirt and plain black cycling shorts if you want .

Hi Poser forumites,
Please note that the route for the OC Poser Ride has been changed slightly, so if you've already printed a route sheet, please destroy that one, and print a new one from the OP above (see Revised).

I hope you don't change again. The first route sheet tasted terrible.
