Sports Medicine Doctor

Hoping someone out there know of a good Sports Medicine Doctor (hopefully knowlegdeable in cycling injuries) in - or close to - Irvine.

I just moved over to PPO and my back pain is coming back.

Thanks in advance.

If you like PM me I have one in Torrance, CA I go to for all my back and neck problems he's a D.O. works great every time! I be leave he told me he was at one time with the KCC football team as a sports medicine doctor and I have no problem giving him my money when I need a tune up.

Probably too far south for you, but I highly recommend Dr. John Martinez at Coastal Sports and Wellness here in San Diego (Sorrento Valley).

+1 on Dr. Martinez. Very helpful and works with many triatheletes and cyclists.

Not sure if he does backs, but Dr. Venuto in Newport Beach did surgery on my shoulder about 18 months ago. I highly recommend him.

He does a lot with pro surfers and motocross riders. Great guy, definitely knows his stuff. I went to him when I broke my shoulder in two places and when I was having trouble with my achilles.

My own internist is near Hoag in N.B. but if you want to research, why not try the track and field coach at U.C. Irvine?

I just got through with treatment for a torn hamstring injury and I have to say that although I felt that my sports medicine doctor was pretty good, the most important aspect of my recovery was due to the physical therapist.

I saw my sports medicine doctor twice. I saw the physical therapist 20 times. And it was obvious that the PT knew MUCH more about the mechanics of therapy, best exercises, and overall recovery tactics and strategy.
