Parking for Palos Verdes Peninsula
How is parking near or in Harbor Park?
I am looking for a safe place to park and ride the Peninsula.
I live in Long Beach and have ridden from Anaheim St. to Harry Bridges, which was a little too sketchy for me. Plus by the time I want to hit the hills, I think I would be tired.
BTW, I have parked by the Trump golf course and that was good.

Don't know where Harbor park is located. If you parked at Trumps before I'd say do it again plus it has a good picnic area with views of the ocean for a lunch after your ride.

I like to park on Via Campesina, near the entrance to the golf and tennis clubs, just off PV North. From there you can easily ride to Malaga Plaza and around the peninsula, or up Del Monte, or up Silver Spur. I also live in Long Beach. It's not too bad of a drive up Anaheim and to PV North. Gary

Sorry guys. I need to clarify my original post. I was hoping to find a parking spot closer to Long Beach, so that I wouldn't have to drive the car as much. That's why I was wondering if Harbor Park was safe to leave the car at.

Going to answer my own post. I found a park, Peck Park, at Western and Summerland that looks like a good spot to park the car. I have to go check it out soon.

I wouldn't park at Harbor Regional Park (previous home of Reggie the alligator). From Harbor Regional Park, you need to cross Anaheim street and 5 corners to get anywhere.
You would be much better off to park over by Peck Park or down on Gaffey near the Target or Home Depot. This area is only about a mile from Harbor Park. There are quite a few wide residential streets just west of the Home Depot, which makes for safe easy parking and dis-embarking from your car to your bike.

I was able to ride yesterday. I did park at Peck Park. It worked out well, I even rode the little singletrack through the park!! (I have a Cross Check with 'cross tires) Only problem with this location is there was no warm up. I ended up climbing about 5 minutes into the ride. I may consider the Target next time. Thanks for the suggestion.
