... The creepy older men hanging out by the rest rooms? On the trail, there is a rest room between 210 and the bridge to Encanto Park.

This weekend was the second time that I noticed someone hanging out there - and THE SAME GUY was still there when I returned after 4 hours of riding. creepy!

Has anyone else noticed this?

That rest stop is a known perv hangout. I read somewhere that the police had staked it out a time or two and rounded up the usual susupects. You'll see those guys hanging out on the side of the trail all the way up to the bike bridge, just north of the rest stop. and you're right..it is really creepy.

We have the same problem with the public lavatories used by the San Diego Velodrome and North Park Little League on Morley Field in Balboa Park. Apparently there is a website that advertises this location as a meeting place for public sex acts. A Little League mom said that she has been trying to get the Park Rangers and SDPD to stake out the area. She was told they can't do that because it violates the first amendment rights of those who participate in such lewd behavior. Consequently, the kids who use the park for recreation have to use the buddy system or make sure a law abiding adult is present before using the restrooms.

A couple of years a go my wife went to use the restroom there during a track riding session. I ran to her aid when I heard her scream. There was a man wearing red lipstick dressed in tight jeans, a woman's blouse, and red pumps in the stall. He emerged just as I arrived on the scene. I called 911 and by the time SDPD and the Ranger got there, the perv had tottered down into the canyon underbrush on his high heels and vanished.

We can't protect our children from predators like these because it is a violation of their "civil rights."

Yes at both Encanto and Morley Field.

I have seen a transient guy hanging around the restroom near the Encanto bridge. He has a radio hooked up to his bike and is usually listening to a talk show. He seems pretty harmless. It is the middle aged guys in khakis and polos that give me the creeps.

Bummer - I was hoping that this wasn't some bigger epidemic...

They do seem to mind their own business, but the creepy factor definitely bothers me.
