Ridding companions

Ridding companions i am looking for people to ride with in the Granada hills area. i usually ride after work and on weekends but not to much fun to watch my own back and pace yourself so if any one wants to come out and join me that would be great:>}}

Not sure why you would want to rid yourself of companions, but you might find plenty of good riding companions in the San Fernando Valley Bicycle Club. You don't have to be a member to participate in any of their rides, and they do everything from easy-paced 20 mile routes to faster 50-100 mile routes.

Rose bowl ride

I travel home via Pasadena every day how is the rose bowl ride?? and where could i get more info on it?

The Tue/Thu Rose Bowl Ride is tough. I can only hang for 2 or 3 laps, and most Cat 4 racers I know can only last about 5. It's definitely a good workout. Here's a link to more information, and that site has information on many other group rides in the area.

It really depends upon how fast you want the rides. Rose Bowl and Montrose are awesome rides, I just got home from Rose Bowl; fun, fun, fun. If you're interested in some faster rides in the San Fernando Valley, I would try the CSUN ride that leaves at 5:30 pm on tuesdays from a small courtyard inside CSUN. Cycle World hosts rides on Fridays and Sundays that go between 50 and 80 miles at a relatively fast pace. The Cycle World ride on Fridays starts at 7 am while the Sunday ride starts at 8 am. All of these rides are relatively fast. For slower rides, I would try getting in touch with a specific bicycle club and inquiring about "social", "C/D/some letter of the alphabet other than A and B", or "No-Drop" rides. It's really tough to recommend rides without knowing what speeds you're shooting for. Hope this helps a ton.
For any more information on rides, either consult www.socalcycling.com or PM me

If your immediate goal is to improve endurance (in preparation for the MS ride), I would try to get in as many centuries or long (80+) rides as you can before the event. Then, if possible, I would ride a little over half the distance of the previous day's long (80+) ride. For example, try to do 80 miles on a saturday and then 45-50 on sunday. This should mimic the type of exertion, recovery, exertion that you will be experiencing for the MS ride. Sadly, there aren't very many weekly group rides that are centuries. Even if there were group rides specializing in long distance riding, it would be hard to find a group of riders that are similar enough to maintain the same pace over a century ride. I suggest you train alone. It would be the best way to isolate what you want to work on, when you want to do it. If your goal is to just gain speed, especially over shorter distances, then I suggest you go to some of the faster rides and just make it your goal to go farther before getting dropped than you did last week. Eventually, you will stick to the group for the whole ride. The motivation of not getting dropped is a tremendous motivator and, in my opinion, the quickest way to push yourself and become a faster rider.
Good Luck.
