Don't Always Trust Gmaps (Bonsall)

I found what looked like a promising backroad on Gmap, but ended up getting completely filthy and scratched to hell, with dirt & rocks clogged in my cleats before turning back in disgust.

The bad news: Eagle Mountain Road does NOT intersect with Disney Lane, as Googlemaps claims.
The good news: The rattlesnake gave me sufficient warning, and there is a 25% grade on Via De La Reina (with a possible spike to 27%, according to my Garmin.)

Can anyone confirm if Twin Oaks Valley Road goes all the way through from Bonsall to San Marcos? I ended up going back down to 395 with my tail between my legs to suck up the exhaust fumes of the 15 along Champagne Blvd.

Twin Oaks does go all the way through. That's a nice stretch of road with a pretty stiff climb up from Gopher Canyon - and you may have to dismount to negotiate a gate at some point - but it's OK to ride through.

all those greenhouses off of disney on the left (not the crops, but the ones closer to the house with the pool) are my friend's dad's bearded dragon ranch. "sandfire dragon ranch."

Mille grazzi paisano! That'll make for a much more pleasant connection from the SLR River Path terminus and the mighty Twin Oaks Parkway grade. (My Happy Place.)

The satellite function on Google Maps usually tells the truth, why didn't you double-check with that?

I did. If you click the above link [Eagle Mountain Road does NOT intersect with Disney Lane], it appears to connect. The street view didn't proceed to Eagle Mountain, so the only way to check it was by riding up that steep MFer and trudging around in the brush, bothering a rattlesnake, and speaking in cursive as my pretty red vernice cycling shoes became filthy.

More frustrating than frightening. After climbing up that sucker, I was really hoping to find the yellow brick road through to Twin Oaks. Instead, I had to turn back and go through on the 395 (aka Monoxide Alley.)

The street view, does not, but the aerial view shows that it does not go through.

You could do Disney to left on Kelly ln, right on Via de Paz, then right on Via de la Reina. That will connect with the end of Eagle Mountain.
The map does not show it going through, but the aerial view does.

Perhaps I should have made the title read, "Don't Always Trust Gmaps SATELLITE VIEW" then. I looked the the Eagle Mountain-Disney connector from the satellite view, and that turned out to be a goatscrew.

Your connection does look promising, but I'll wager that unnamed, private driveway between Via de la Reina and Via de Paz has a locked gate on it. Let me know what you find if you decide to check it out (and what you think of la Reina.)

Hahaha, I should have known better. Years ago, I bought a dual-purpose dirt-bike to go exploring (responsibly of course) the seeming abundance of fire-roads and trails around North County. Then I quickly learned that the satellite view doesn't show all the barbed wire fences and KEEP OUT signs on them.

Which is what I was alluding to, the satellite image. Apparently the OP needs to take a course in map reading.

If you bothered to read any of the above posts or look at the SATELLITE VIEW LINK WHICH I POSTED, you would see that the Disney and Eagle Mountain Road DO APPEAR TO CONNECT. I rode there last Thursday and found that they do not. (The SATELLITE VIEW.) Please read entirely before making snide remarks about someone's abilities, Dumb@$$.

If you mean where the "A" is, it does appear to connect but when I zoomed in as much as possible, it looks like it's just a drawn line.

There's a group that rides on Wednesdays from Bonsall. If there are any new roads or shortcuts, they know them. I went on one of their shortcuts from Temecula to DeLuz yesterday. I should have put on a 34 tooth cassette.

But there is a short dirt path connecting the two, which looked harmless. It turned out to be a berm, a ditch, a lot of thorny vegetation, and an angry rattlesnake. Almost as if the nearby residents didn't want people using it as a thoroughfare.

They all look harmless until you're carrying your bike and getting **** in your shoes.

That describes my experience pretty accurately, plus one rattle snake and nearly toppling backward off a 10-foot lip of the berm when the loose dirt suddenly gave out. Red vernice carbon dainties aren't exactly the most confidence-inspiring hiking boots.

It would appear that our angry little friend doesn't know how to unclick the show labels tab on the satellite view. That erroneously drawn line blocks the view of what appears to be a nasty/overgrown dirt path. A cross-refererence on topozone shows it' steep as well. Then again, it doesn't take a cartographer to figure all of that out.

I dunno, maybe if he clicked those heels together he would have been transported back to Kansas.

In my defense, I took three cheap-shots from you before getting angry, Tw@tf@rt.
You contributed no new information or insight, only put-downs and platitudes. If I ever ask for help or offer any information in another thread, it's addressed to everyone else, not you.

I'm up in La Costa and had ridden PCH to the San Luis Rey bike path, and was coming from Old River Rd.
In fact, I'll be making the same ride again tonight after work, only turning right on Little Gopher to Gopher Cyn to Twin Oaks. (I can't get enough of Twin Oaks Grade.)
Where are you at?

Eatswood.
"A little adventure is frightening, isn't it" etc.

While we're on the subject of vague references, were you referring to Me or him getting beat up a lot? Because if it was me, you really hurt my feelings, Dog.
