I'll probably be going, but on the bus as usual. I wish I could convince my wife to rent/borrow a bike and try this. It's not fast or long, right?

I haven't been on this art ride but on the one's I've been are a slow but fun pace. If your wife decides to go I have a bike you can borrow, just let me know by Thursday.

I forgot, she won't be there this time because her friends called a girl's night out. I asked her if she would have taken up the bike loan offer, and got silence as a reply. So, since I realize I have the night free, how feasible is it for me to carry a camelback with tennis shoes in it and switch back and forth? Or should I just tool around with tennis shoes on my SPD-SLs?

Hmmm...the silent treatment is rough. FWIW, I've gone into the PMCA and Norton Simon museum (on numerous occasions) in SPD/mountain shoes....never had a problem but I make sure not to scratch up the floor while walking around. I'm sure that a camelback with sneakers will be fine, if you don't mind changing shoes every 20 minutes.

Alice, are there any issues with bike security? I'm just wondering if I should worry about leaving lights/bags ON the bike while in the galleries/museums.

CICLE typically assigns volunteers to watch over bikes while riders enjoy the museums. I don't think there have been any problems (so far)...

UK as far as the shoes? I would just wear tennies. If you don't want to do that, you could switch out your pedals for the night. Don't you have some old platforms laying around?

No old platforms. I haven't used those in 15 years. I can ride with sneakers on my SPD-SL pedals pretty easily, just not fast and not long. It sounds like neither of those are an issue with this.
