Boulevard Road Race/Red Trolley Classic Criterium
So I think this February I'm going to take my first shot at racing.
These two races are in the same weekend and both in San Diego (don't feel like driving too far).
Does anyone have any experience with either (or both) of them?
I don't know which I'd rather do, but can't really find any info on the BRR to make a good decision. Hell, if the entry fees aren't too high, I might do both, but will most likely just do one or the other.

I have done Boulevard several times, It's a climbers course, 2000 feet per lap. The weather can also be a big factor.

The Boulevard is a great race. Is very hard and yes the weather is always a factor. Just have some fun and be ready to really suffer...

It snowed at Boulevard earlier this year.

Red Trolley Crit is three corners plus one sweeper. None of the turns are especially tricky. The difficulty in the course is the hill to the finish. You have to be able to put down a strong effort every 1-2 minutes for the duration of the race.

If you're easily discouraged then Blvd. is a bad race to start with. It's a grueling course that gets even worse with bad weather.
Red Trolley is better. The hill slows the group down a bit so it seems that there are less crashes (maybe). I hope you've been doing your intervals!

The RT hill requires a little more effort than MBGP's. It's also a short course so you hit that hill more often. The three turns don't require any slowing down (unless you're stuck in the back). The big sweeper has good pavement. The field also tends to be smaller due to the driving distance and fatigue from Boulevard which is the day before.
MBGP has a decent course with a good crowd & atmosphere.

Wheel sucker! At 5'8" 140lbs I don't produce much of a wake!
jk I'm ready to do what it takes for a team win! I'm really looking forward to having a few teammates this year. It's been a solo effort the last 2 years for me.

Should be at Blvd this year in the 3's or 35+, not sure why I keep coming back for more? Hopefully it doesn't snow this year, last year was the most ridiculous race I've been in.
