LA River Ride
Has anyone here done the LA River Ride in the past? Worthwhile event? Thinking of signing up for the 1/2 century...

I've done this ride and have volunteered as well. It is well organized and with the funds being used in the right way, it is worth the price paid.

I've ridden for the past three years. Very enjoyable ride. I was planning on this year, my fourth, but cannot due to a collision. I recommend you do the 70 because it's only a bit longer than the 50 and you get to ride all the way down to Long Beach instead of turning around at a park.

Hey, it might be a "colon", but it's OUR colon...
I had fun when I did this ride. This year will no doubt be the biggest ever.

I did it last year, and I had a blast, even though my training partner had to drop out at the last minute. Made for a very easy first century, too. Can't do it this year, but I may do it again in the future to support LACBC.

What is the route on the century ride? Does it include San Gabriel River as well?

Here's the 2009 LA River Ride Century Rte. Looks like they do 2 loops around GP. I've never done it. You should come up here and try it.

Rode the half century at the LA River Ride today. Other than a flat tire around mile 30 had a great ride. Thanks to the LA Bike Coalition, the Bicycle Kitchen, Cycleworld, and the rest of the sponsors who do such a great job putting on a quality ride, and especially all the volunteers who took a Saturday off to help out - you guys rock!!

The parking situation sucked out loud. No one really knew where to send us to park, since the big lot in front of the Zoo is limited due to a construction project. I was sincerely appalled at the number of cyclists who couldn't seem to read the "No River Ride Parking" signs.
