Bud's Ride report
Got back from the Claremont ride a couple hours ago.... boy those guys are fast! I hung in there for a lap then got dropped big time as they wound through Puddingstone Dr. I took the next lap solo and then rode some city streets to cool down. I'm glad I had the opportunity to give it a try and I will definitely be back next week (work schedule permitting). It is definitely an amazing feeling being in a peleton whipping around the lake! Thanks to everyone I was able to talk to on the ride and hopefully I'll see everyone next week!

Good job for hanging on as long as you did; you'll be able to hang longer by the end of summer, I'll wager.
I used to ride laps around Puddingstone back in the late 80's as a USCF Junior, and we used the flat/straight on Puddingstone Drive, parallel to the airfield as our sprint-training spot.
I must have ridden thousands of laps around that lake, including the LA Triathlon Series back in '87.

Yeah, those guys are fast! They must average 24 mph cause they do 3 laps in an hour, each hilly lap being 8 miles. I held on once for close to one lap then fell back. I did two more just tyring to keep from getting lapped!
Makes you wonder how fast the real fast guys are. I watched the Bud's training rides several times and the guys that were winning the training rides were geting spanked by the other pro racers in Ontario......FTR, that was several years back when I saw Team Mercury race in Ontario

If you get dropped it is OK to cut across the dam by Raging waters to catch back up to the group.. Just don't try to jump into a breakaway, wait for the larger group to catch you and jump back in.. The ride can vary from 60-64 minutes for 3 laps depending on who shows up.. The fastest 3 laps were right around 56 minutes..
