Uo GMR today, I almost......

September 9,, 2010 GMR 002..jpg(click pic)Ran this poor guy over.

All the times I have been up GMR, I have never seen a tarantula before. Have seen them on other roads in the local mountains, just never up there. This one just made it off the pavement as I came around a corner on the way up. At the speed I ride uphill, it really wasn't hard to avoid him. Late afternoon ride was a good one. Broke a good sweat on the way up, but wore a light jacket on way down. Temps are really quite nice late in the day. and one can really feel the changing of seasons coming on.

That is awesome. I have yet to see one in the wild myself, I saw lots of baby rattle snakes over the weekend up in the bay area though.

I saw one running across the road on my way down little GMR this afternoon. I don't see them often, but they aren't super rare.
