When I read the thread title, I was hoping to get an interbike report. Instead I got this. Bummer.

I worked Interbike, as I have for the past 27 years, and it was a busy show for distributors and dealers. Since it was so busy I didn't get out of the booth much, but I was impressed by the huge variety of mountain and road bikes, plus the fixed gear thing is still going strong.

Plus, just whole lots of companies offering wheels; some I'd heard of, some not. SRAM had a huge booth and combined with ZIPP wheels, whom they had purchased. Shimano and Campagnolo also had huge booths, very well presented.

I didn't see any famous riders there except Eddy Merckx (probably the most famous?), but there could have been lots more I didn't see 'cause I didn't get out much.

Rick what is the point of Interbike if you can't walk around, collect "swag" and meet cool famous people? Last time there I spoke with Merckx, Roll, Hincapie, Phil Liggett, Zabriskie, oh hell, a whole bunch more I can't remember and the "swag"... lots of cool stuff!!! Funny, at the time I had no idea who Zabriskie was - I just thought he looked 12 years old and was cute!

Trek doesn't show up any more because they do their own dealers-only show in WI whenever it is that they do that.

This is harder to do when you're working the booth like Rick was doing. These things generally suck lots for distributors and the like because they're tied down, while dealers get to wander around at large.

What's the word on whether Interbike stays in LV or moves to Anaheim for next year?

Actually Pam,

The point of Interbike for us is to talk with our distributors (both U.S. and International) and talk with our dealers, show new products, discuss potential problems, competitor's products, and all such "not really fun" but important businss issues.

I do see some friends there every year, esp. Lynn Katano and Eric Smith, plus they had John Robbins with them this year. Colin and Julie came by with David Wu, plus I saw Lee Scott (scvroadie on the forum), and some folks I used to work with at GT/Riteway. All this, of course, while I was working the booth!
