I'm Car Free and It's Raining

Figures. I sold my car yesterday and it rains today.

My sister in law moved here a few months ago has been using my car. She bought a place and got a job so all she needed was a car. So I sold her mine. The day before it started raining.

I learned long ago, always check the weather the day before selling or making a purchase of items valued at $200 or more!

So did you give her a good deal or make enough to buy a REALLY expensive bike?...or maybe one of these:

We can always hope not. Call is for snow in the local mountains for Tuesday and Wednesday. Granted, not much, but SNOW. Getting closer to "break out the skis" time. Can't wait.

you can blame me for the weather. i just moved here from ohio and brought by "bad" weather with me.

i left my car in ohio since i only have 7 miles to work and have been cycling everyday (except one day, i jogged). i commuted in ohio while in school in weather a lot worse. you will get use to it - trust me. in fact, i kinda enjoyed riding today. i'm not looking forward to the forecasted lightning tomorrow, though.

I thought rain was a valid excuse to stay home and call in sick in California.

Rain, rain go away.....I thought it would only be a few days but it's dragging on. I don't ride in the rain, it's hard enough staying upright when it is dry. Nice time to sell your car, hope you get a better replacement. Stay safe and dry.

Bike touring in Europe desensitized me to precipitation, and what we've been getting here in San Diego since Monday doesn't begin to resemble "la pluie." I love riding in this weather. The temperature is welcome change from the 100+ degrees of a couple of weeks ago. I have a choice of two rain bikes, a 700c for commuting and a 26" MTB for Noah's flood, both with fenders and mudflaps.

You now have permission to buy a new rain bike. Immediately.

Or to buy a new road bike to replace the old one that has now become your new rain bike.

win-win.

Did you buy a new car just now? Reason I ask is because now the sun's coming out here.

Doesn't STRS allow you to use accrued sick time for service credit at the end of your career? I haven't used any since the mid-90s.
