SART Detour

As most of you know the River trail will be closed between Imperial Hwy and Glassel/Kramer for 10 days starting Oct 12. A good detour would be to take Imperial Hwy south to Santa Ana Cyn rd, turn right and take that to LakeView, turn right and take that to Riverdale, turn left and take Riverdale to Glassel. Hope this helps.

The trail was open today, they haven't started the slurry coating. I will keep posting updates.

I just hope cyclists are smart enough to stay off the trail till it's ready in order to prevent those tire tracks and grooves they put on it last time. Probably not!

The paving has started, They have coated the trail from Imperial past Kaiser half way to Rose. There were a few riders riding on the new pavement, I stayed in the dirt.

Rode it today all the way from Glassel to Imperial. Paving is done. Painting the stripe was 95% done. There were still a few unexpected bumps but its nowhere near as bad as it used to be.

My bike got filthy from some black sandy stuff as well. Hopefully that tapers off after a few weeks.

I think the rain has slowed the drying of the slurry. Seems like June weather in October. Wheres the dry hot Santa Ana winds and the indian summer.

Great! Now I get to be surprised by a few new bumps in the road instead of the old ones that used to rattle me about. But at least I knew where those ones were located.

Or are you saying that they're still in the same locations, just toned down a bit?

First 28 seconds of this video, I was hitting plenty of now hidden bumps. They didn't fix or remove the roots, just repaved. As soon as I pass the dude parked on the right parked by the gate, you can see a big root/bump still in the pavement.

What was the point of repaving then? The road wasn't that crappy to begin with. I mean, the new tarmac will be nice to ride on, but I was hoping that they'd kind of tear up the areas with the root damage and then repave them making it all nice and smooth. But nooooooo!

Well, at least I know where all of those ruts and bumps are located so they won't come as a shock.

Oh yeah, two other things to get me to 50 --

- May I request "The Magnificent Seven" by The Clash for your next video? First cut from the awesomely overlooked "Sandanista!" album.

-- I think Gina needs to get you one of those awesome Contour HD cameras for Xmas. Sure the Flip is nice, but we need 1080p video out of you in the coming year. Saw them at Interbike and the quality was absolutely stunning and I was shocked that they were so affordable on Amazon. I thought they'd cast at least two to three times as much.

And that is 50. Suck on that whomever it was that made the decision you had to get to 50 posts before you could send a private message.

Ha, just bought the Clash geatest hits few day ago. I 've never herar The Mag 7 but sounds cool enough. I'll work it in. Might depend on the pace, climbing at a hgih cadence or flat trail ride.

That's not new paving; it was a slurry seal.

Thanks for the video- I enjoyed the SART "revisit" since I haven't done that route in awhile. Now that it is on my mind, I'll get it back on my list.
