It looks like a large crowd will be attending. Just a suggetion - move the start location to Glendora High school. It's got a huge parking, no neighbours to disturb and a nice 1.4 mile warm up before hitting that female-dog-of-a-hill at Boulder Springs. I'll probably start there anyway (if I make it on time, that is).
I know some are starting from various spots a few miles away to warm the legs up before the climb so we shouldn't be too much of a disturbance. And those that want to can use the HS parking lot and roll up from there.

I know of several riders who have ridden it on a fixed gear, so a singlespeed would be easier than that!
The real questions are: What is your gearing?
How strong / light are you?
As noted above, there is nothing super steep until you get above the Village (which is optional anyway), so I'd say just go for it!

Darn you all for doing it this weekend. I am sure it will be a blast, but there is just too much good cyclocross to miss out on, so I will have to catch you another time.

I've ridden 30 miles flat no problem and the area around my house is pretty hilly but not sure about a dedicated climb

There's one way to find out! Join us and give it a try; worst case you burn-out and coast back down the mountain.

I wish I could make this but I have a Navy commitment this weekend. I was up there last weekend and posted a ride report in the road forums. It's getting cool up there so have some layers for the way down. Watch for hunters and tarantulas too!
For those that didn't see the other thread here's a link to some pics: https://www.flickr.com/photos/robncir...57625276638016
And a Garmin summary: https://connect.garmin.com/activity/54909717
Have fun up there!

Hmm... tempting. Was up there 2 months ago, but there's no limit to how many Baldy rides you can do, right?

I'm pretty sure my wife will be joining us on the GMR ride .
That's a good thing because it's her birthday and I'm usually out of town on her birthday, so it would look kinda bad if I went to GMR and left her all alone.
So this will be all good, even though she doesn't want me to actually ride the climb with her, we can car-pool together and hopefully see each other at some point at The Village. No, she is not going to do the Ski-Lift climb . . . no chance.
On the other hand, my legs (and my 30t granny gear) are looking forward to the Ski-Lift climb !
I will be wearing my bikeforums.net 50+ jersey to support all the Geezers and Geezettes on this climb.

Ooo, won't be long before I can get one of those! I'm going to wear it to Denny's for my 4:30pm dinner (since I already eat dinner that early).

Since this ride is promoted by MR. Clyde, will he be gathering everybody together for a preride speech? I'll take the pic from a distance so that I can get a pic of the "huge" crowd

"My fellow cyclists, we are gathered here today to put the hurt on this mountain. You do not stop, you do not let up, you do not give up when you get tired. You stop when the mountain gets tired. Ride safe and have fun!"
There, the speech is out of the way.
Uh, I had NO IDEA there would be this many people showing up! I'm thinking we mingle for a couple minutes, and get to riding. I did the meet at 8, roll at 8:15 because every group ride I've done advertises a start time, and people interpret that differently. Some are ready to go at the start time, others arrive at the start time still needing to unload their bike, change their clothes, find the restroom, put their bike together, change the tires, you get the point.
I will be there on the early side in a gray Honda minivan, looking forward to meeting some fellow riders and enjoying a beautiful ride. Besides, Beanz kinda baited me into this anyway!

I live about 5 miles away so I'll ride there. I'll be the fat guy on the "way too small looking" CAAD8.

I sure hope so! You were the guy that encouraged MrClyde to post the ride!

Part of the fun of riding up to the village is sitting, eating and drinking at the Mt Baldy Lodge. On Saturday they open at 11. Assuming an 8:30 start time, plus some regrouping along the way, most of the group should arrive at the village by 11. The speedy goats will venture on up to the lifts and back, arriving back at the village around the same time as well.
Regarding water refill at the village - there's a drinking fountain across the street from the lodge.
