Going to Vegas soon - need cycling recommendations

I'm going to be in LV for work in the beginning of March and was hoping to get some cycling recs. I know of Mt. Charleston outside of Vegas, and I'll probably try to climb up that as much as possible (weather permitting).

I was also planning to leave Vegas on Friday night (or maybe sat morning) - and drive some place to climb saturday morning/afternoon. Some quick work led me to these options:

1. 18 North - climb from Apple Valley to Big Bear. Is this route going to be clear?
2. Nine Mile Canyon Road - near Ridgecrest, sometime of a detour, could be really cold?
3. Shirley Meadows - also a detour, could be cold/snowy?

Do these ideas make sense? What else could I do?

There's some good riding & Climbing in the Henderson/Lake Mead/Lake Las Vegas area. 30 min or less from the strip.

I agree, there are some great rides in the Vegas area but I would never ride around the strip/downtown.

It's a...wait for it....bit of a Gamble

Valley of Fire. Camping facilities, smooth roads, just gorgeous. I didn't bike there, but spent a weekend camping and photographing and kept thinking "man, I want to bike around here!"

Give McGhie's shop a call. They used to be Cervelo dealers, but now their web site has mostly Trek and Cannondale.
