Did anyone encounter the very large sheet of black ice on Latigo today?

There was a HUGE sheet of black ice on the descent of Latigo in between the first and second summit. Thank god that I got a warning about it on the way up from someone on the way down. I hope no one got hurt on it.

Funny I hiked Maple Springs yesterday. I came across a small sheet of ice and warned riders to be careful as they went up. About 50% listened to me... one guy coming down admitted he heard me but didn't pay attention and went down. Oh well... we need to keep eyes and ears open!

Private docent led mountain bike rides through Limestone Canyon. Go to and register today! Also available: hikes, equestrian rides and family events as well as trail maintenance and science study.

I heard there was similar on mulhulland from a motorcycle rider, but didn't make it up yesterday. Wondered about it though from the temps, actually was hoping if we got rain up there we might see snow

Hope people were safe and paid attention!

On 2/25 i encountered cold icy rain at the first top of Latigo and it didn't improve on the way down. On 2/27 i encountered sheets of ice of varying sizes going up Fernwood Pacific, Tuna, Saddle Peak, and Stunt. Unfortunately the car clubs seemed unfazed by the hazard and continued to speed around the curves on Stunt. Other than the above; it's been wonderful riding weather....and testing different combos of cold weather gear.
