Angeles Crest Water Avaliability

Does anyone know where water is available currently up in the AC besides Redbox and Clear Creek?

Is there water availably at New Comb's from a spout or hose outside when it's closed?

Water at Angeles Forest Road/Upper Big T Station?

How about at Cloud Burst Summit or Beyond?

thanks for the help.

Keep in mind that much of the area you are asking about experiences freezing temps during winter months, so potable water from any type of cistern/reservoir is shut down, and water lines drained to prevent damage from freezing. That includes the water fountain at Red Box, outside water at Newcomb's Ranch, and the water at Buckthorn Campground, all of which are available sources during summer months. Despite that, snow will do fine in winter when unfrozen.

During summer months there is potable water at Clear Creek, Red Box, Mt. Wilson, Charlton, Chelao, Newcomb's Ranch, and Buckthorn Campground. No water at Cloudburst Summit, Islip Saddle or Dawson Summit, other than a few springs or natural runoff, until you get to Grassy Hollow.

There is no source of water on Upper Big T from Angeles Forest to Angeles Crest, other than the creek, and, to my knowledge, none from where Upper Big T meets Angeles Crest until Charlton Flats or Chelao.

Newcomb Ranch doesn't have water outside. Buckhorn used to , don't know if they do since the fire. Grassy Hollow has water but that's 10 miles after Dawson Saddle. I also heard Red Box isn't on right now.
The fire station on AF near Hidden Springs has been closed since the fire.

Red Box - I was up Saturday, and there wasn't any water pressure in the fountain there.

The observatory gate is locked, cutting off access to the source there. Somebody posted earlier about filling their bottles with snow at the observatory - leading me to believe that water source isn't working, either.

Well John, I've used a water faucet at the corner of the porch at Newcomb's on many occasions during the summer. I have noticed that during the winter they remove the fountain presumably because they drain the line that comes over the roof and down the support at the corner of the porch. Look for it next time.

I used it in the past but they turned it off and it has been off for some time. One of the guys said it make the shower upstairs turn cold.

Water fountain at Red Box was working fine today. They have cleared all the baracades at the parking lots so I was told that it's ok to park there now. Lots of rumors about AC at Newcombs. They have started a protest coalition and received a response from Cal Trans. " It's our f***ing road and we will open it when we feel like it"

Thank you everyone for the info. I'll have to take my chances, I may have to make like a camel. Wouldn't be the first time.
